This Is Me--2024 A to Z Theme

My A to Z Themes in the past have covered a range of topics and for 2025 the theme is a random assemblage of things that are on my mind--or that just pop into my mind. Whatever! Let's just say I'll be "Tossing It Out" for your entertainment or however it is you perceive these things.

Wrapping Things Up ( #AtoZChallenge Reflections & #BOTB Results )

I've got some Battle of the Band results to post, but first I'll make some reflections on my recent Blogging from A to Z April Challenge experience.

Reflecions 2025 #AtoZChallenge

It was a good year I thought.  I managed to post as I should daily in April and wasn't too stressed about it.  I enjoyed the content I posted and hopefully some of you did as well. Simplicity was my goal and I think I achieved it.

As usual, I didn't visit other blogs as much as I had intended and know that I should for a blog event such as A to Z.  Bottom line is that I'm just not on my computer as much as I used to be and blogging time is sacrificed.  I guess I'll have to figure that out eventually.

Thanks to everyone who participated by posting and reading.  And a very big appreciation for the fantastic A to Z Team:

I thought it was a very nice April Challenge!

Battle of the Bands Results

My recent Battle was between the groups Badfinger and Electric Light Orchestra.  I have so many more memories associated with Badfinger that they are my general favorite.  I do enjoy the classical music setting of ELO and there is not a thing wrong with their music in my view.  I just prefer Badfinger.

Final Vote Tally

Badfinger                           2 votes

Electric Light Orchestra     8 votes

Next Battle on May 15

That's my plan and I'm not planning to change it yet.

May 3 question - When you are working on a story, what inspires you?

There is no one single answer to this question.  Inspiration comes from many sources and leads me to different outlets of expression.   Maybe it was something I read in the news or elsewhere.  Or perhaps a story related to me by someone else.  And more often than not my inspiration comes from my own life experiences or my imagination (and who knows where that comes from sometimes).

For me inspiration is a continuous flow that weaves and diverges throughout my waking and dreaming existence.  Once into actual writing of a story I might give myself a soundtrack to write by--most often something classical or instrumental in some other genre. Sometimes my mere self-motivation to finish my writing will fuel inspiration.

In the past few years most of my writing is on my blog.  The yearly Blogging from A to Z April Challenge gives me a lot of writing inspiration so that is a plus for doing that particular blog-a-thon.

Blogging from A to Z April Challenge Reflections 2023

#AtoZChallenge 2023 Reflections        From my standpoint, considering the conditions under which I have been blogging this year, this 2023 A to Z went pretty darn smoothly.  This year I've been dealing with limited computer access which doesn't allow me to spend a lot of time doing online activities such as blogging.  In some ways this has been good for my personal life, but a great hindrance in doing time consuming activities such as visiting and commenting on other blogs.  Nevertheless, I did manage to post on time for every letter as well as my assigned posts on the A to Z Blog.  And I read every comment though was not always responsive to them.  Thanks to all who commented.

Primarily I'll attribute my timely postings to doing a lot of my work in March before the Challenge began.  I laid out my posts for April and took many of the photos I would need for illustrating my posts.  The pre-preparation really does help and I will likely do this as much as I can in future Challenges.  It's worked in the past and saved me a lot of grief this year.  Then again, I'm always tempted just to improvise as I go.  Next year is next year.

Not but more I can add that's better than the Reflections posts that I've read from other participants that I've been able to see.  I'm sure there's many more.

And my biggest thanks goes out to the incredible A to Z Team.  Thanks to all of you!  If you readers want to check out some of the A to Z Reflections as well as find the links to Team members' blogs go to the Blogging from A to Z Challenge Blog.

It's All Good! ( #IWSG & #AtoZChallenge Reflections )

Gonna keep this brief as I have no complaints about writing, blogging, or whatever.  Except this thing about dirty dishes.  Every time we eat a meal we end up with dirty dishes.  But I digress.  This is about writing and blogging...

May 4 question - It's the best of times; it's the worst of times. What are your writer highs (the good times)? And what are your writer lows (the crappy times)?

The Good, the Bad, and Everything in Between

Most of the time I tend to be a pretty even keeled sort of guy.  If my writerly highs and lows were a roller coaster then it would be a kiddie coaster or maybe more like the miniature train ride that goes in circles.  As I wend my cycles around my writerly life I usually have a nice relaxing ride.  Life things are my biggest obstacles that create frustration, but it's those things that give me some of my highest highs and happiest moments.  The writing is just something for me to do like any other hobby that people might have.

Not much that I can gage my writing experience against.  Not since my college days when writing was attached to deadlines and grades.  If writing were my sole source of income then I might get stressed, anxious, and even depressed.  And in that scenario, selling my work would be the highlight.  But since that's not happening, writing doesn't impact my life much more than collecting things, listening to music, or watching television does.  Writing is something to keep me busy and entertained.  Not much super good or bad to report.  I'm just between.  Between the lines you might say.  Now make a deadline demand on me and then ask me again.  Maybe I'll have something different to say about it then, but otherwise all is well in my world of writing.

Blogging from A to Z April Challenge Reflections

Reflections 2022 #atozchallenge

Several years ago when I was taking blogging a bit more seriously I'd have a schedule set up that would be somewhat demanding on my life of retirement.  The Blogging from A to Z April Challenge put some bigger demands on me.  Then I decided to stop worrying about the blogging and just enjoy it without feeling the need to let the blogging run me.  The Challenge of 2022 was a breeze compared to the previous years.  In fact every year seems to have gotten easier.

Much of the relief has come from having one of the best blogging teams anyone could ask for.  This super team helped to make things run so smoothly with a high degree of professionalism that I didn't have to worry about whether the Challenge would go as it should.  It did and I was very pleased.

My deep gratitude goes to our Team Captain J Lenni Dorner who was there to keep the machine finely tuned and organized.  Also Jayden R Vincente for setting up and managing the spreadsheets that helped bloggers find each other and whatever else those sheets help do.  Our newest addition Anjela Curtis did a wonderful job replacing our longtime graphics guy, the late Jeremy Hawkins, with her artistic abilities that gave us all the wonderful badges and other artwork that graced the A to Z Blog as well as so many blogs of participants.  Also with their great creative input, technical knowledge, and willingness to keep things moving through April are our long time team members John Holton and Zalka Csenge Virág.

Finally there were all of those great bloggers who were there on a daily basis with some of the most interesting and entertaining posts of any Challenge year.   Thanks to all of you who managed to keep up with their own posts while making rounds to visit the rest of us.  Without you participants there would be no Challenge--or at least not that much of a Challenge.  Thank you every one of you!

As far as I'm concerned, 2022 was a great year for this blog Challenge.  I did all of my posts ahead of time and that really let up on the stress factor for me.  And I had a lot of visitors who left good comments and inspired me to keep wanting to blog.

You know something?   I liked this year's Challenge so much that I think I want to do it again next year.  That's the way it should be.

What about writing or blogging stresses you out the most?  Did you enjoy the Challenge this year?  Do you want to do it again?

10th Annual A to Z Reflections ( #AtoZChallenge )

As another Blogging from A to Z April Challenge has passed, it is time for another Reflections post.  After having done nine of these already I'm not sure that I have much to say that hasn't been said on this blog many times before.  I will say that it was a very good year from my perspective.

#AtoZChallenge 2019 Tenth Anniversary badge

In many ways I've become a lazy blogger.  More precisely I've lost a blogging fervor that drove me in my first years of blogging.  In a sense this is good in that I've created more balance in my life.  For a while, blogging became my obsession. Now I've found some other obsessions that put demands on my time. It's all a good thing so I'm fine with all of this.

The bottom line though for the sake of this Reflections post is that I survived another Challenge and I think I did a credible job of doing so.  My thanks to everyone who commented and especially those who kept coming back again and again.

And my utmost thanks to the incredible job done by our Team Captain J Lenni Dorner and all of the A to Z Team:

#AtoZ Reflections for 2018

This was my ninth year at the Blogging from A to Z April Challenge.  It's always been a somewhat frantic time for me in regard to my blog, but invariably some family crisis or event has arisen which made blogging more difficult for me.  But this year--as Frank Sinatra might sing--it was a very good year.

Thanks to the incredible A to Z Team--

--my job was made so much easier and every problem that I was aware of got quickly remedied by the great minds that were assembled to run this year's Challenge.  A huge Thank You to the Team and to all the players who joined us on our alphabetical blog run of 2018.

May 2 question - It’s spring! Does this season inspire you to write more than others, or not?

This is a question that I've never thought about before hence I'm not sure that I can provide any quantifiable answer--that is until the past several years.  One certain thing is that since I've been doing the A to Z Challenge I definitely write more in March and April, even if it is only blog posts.  For me that's writing as much as anything is.

Furthermore, with the A to Z writing comes a flood of ideas for future writing and other projects.  I even started some new future blog posts.  I've also been reassessing who I am as a writer and where I should take things next.  And most exciting for me at the moment is that during the past week I've written a song that I think is a pretty darn good one and I'll be polishing that up over the next couple of weeks.

When I was still in college I can recall springtime calling me out to read and write on grassy lawns or in one of the student facilities geared toward studious activities.  But then I think I was writing about equally in all seasons.  Now I don't see any connection to writing and seasons other than the A to Z Blogging.   I'm thankful that I've got that event to spur me on.

Battle of the Bands

Battle of the Bands is the blogging event started by Far Away Series and now hosted by StMcC Presents Battle of the Bands.   This event happens each month on the 15th and on some blogs there is also a Battle on the 1st of the month.  My blog is one of those with a second Battle on the 1st of the month.   The premise is simple:  Listen to the songs presented below and then in the comments vote for your favorite and tell us why you liked it.  Then visit the links listed near the bottom of this post for more Battle action.

My Favorite Things

Some of my favorite things are the Blogging from A to Z Challenge and Insecure Writer's Support Group.   One of my most favorite things is Battle of the Bands which is why I haven't missed a one of these since they first started about five years ago.  That's a lot of Battles with a lot of great music!

BOTB co-founder Stephen T. McCarthy (as well as others) and I have pondered the question of why some people like certain things better than others.  The concept of "favorites" can be perplexing at times and probably would require a fairly in-depth study why some of us like certain things while others don't.  If anyone has an answer to this question I welcome your input on this subject.

In the past few weeks I started hearing a song on a Volvo commercial that sounded vaguely familiar.  I didn't pay too much attention at first, but as the song started securing itself in my brain I started paying attention to it.  At that point I realized I was hearing an updated electronica version of "My Favorite Things" from Sound of Music

I happen to know that this is a favorite song of my friend Stephen T McCarthy because we've discussed it in the past.   On the other hand, as I have mentioned to STMcC, "Favorite Things" is far from my favorite things.  I don't dislike hearing it, but I think it might be something about the lyrics that I don't care for.   As I have conceded to Stephen in the past, I do agree that the melody is very nice which is probably why I like the song better as an instrumental than a vocal number.

Hearing the Volvo commercial repeatedly eventually earwormed the song into my head--or at least this version.   The immediacy of hearing this commercial decided my first post-A-to-Z blog post.   All other songs in my queue get knocked down a notch as this May Day round matches two versions of the song "My Favorite Things"...

Nora Khalif  "My Favorite Things"  (2018)

I don't have any info on the artist, but this is the commercial version of a recording that presumably is still in the works for a longer version sometime down the road.   At least this version is very short which makes it a good pick for Battle of the Bands...

Joe Raciti  "My Favorite Things"  (2010)

If we're going with odd versions of an old classic, then this "creepy" version seems to fit that bill.   I didn't research to find anything about the artist, but I did watch several of his videos.  He's got some interesting stuff on YouTube if you are intrigued after watching this video.   But first listen to his version of "Favorite Things"--and if you are able to do so you might enjoy watching the video--it's kind of weird, but good...

Time to Vote!

Please vote. What's your favorite between these two choices? Which song version do you like best? You don't have to know about music to have an opinion since it all comes down to your own personal taste.

Please vote on your favorite by letting us know your choice in the comment section and tell us why you prefer the version you chose. Then after you've finished here, please visit the other blogs listed below who may or may not be participating this time around. And if you've put up your own BOTB contest let us know that as well so we can vote on yours.

Here are some other places where you might find BOTB posts:

Winner of this Battle Announced on Tuesday May 8th

Hope you'll stop by for my A to Z Reflections post on Monday May 7th, but definitely if you've voted in this current contest then you'll want to see who comes out on top.   By the way, due to a death in the family I will be away from the computer until Friday May 4th on which day I will hopefully make it around to all of the other BOTB posts.  Hope you'll bear with me on this, but it was not in my plans.

Will you be submitting an A to Z Reflections post this year?    When you write do you tend to get a renewed creative energy to do more things?   Do you like hearing old classic songs in updated unconventional versions?

Reflections of 2017 A to Z (#atozchallenge) & #BOTB results

Reflections of the 2017 A to Z Challenge

There's not that much to be said for the 2017 Blogging from A to Z April Challenge that I haven't said in the Reflections posts of previous years.  Most of what was said in those posts still holds true.  The guiding principles of social blogging still hold true:  Leave comments to receive comments and make every attempt to keep things interesting in your posts.

My theme of  It's About Time was one of my favorites to ponder and write the posts about.  The subject matter was interesting to me and seemed of interest to most readers who left comments for me.   I enjoyed the philosophical aspect of each letter topic and I didn't have to spend too much time researching my posts.

Though as is usually the case I didn't get to visit as many blogs as I would have liked, I made new blog discoveries as well as appreciated the blogs of old and newer friends.  The array of subjects covered during April with the added bonus of so much fine writing and creativity made blog reading a joy during the entire month.

Personally I had no problem finding blogs to read through reciprocating my comments and practicing the other methods that have been oft repeated on the A to Z Blog and elsewhere.  In other words, I stayed busy visiting blogs and never got around to as many as I could have.  Not having the Linky List was okay with me and its absence meant that 2017 was the most relaxing unstressful Challenge ever.

I didn't miss the list albeit I did create my own link list (found here) mostly for my own curiosity to see how many participants I could compile.  I know I fell way short so I don't have any clear idea of how many A to Z participants there actually were this year.  For that matter, I'm not even sure if all of the links I listed continued participating from beginning to end because I wasn't using my own list.  However, my list was there for anyone to use.  Sorry if I didn't list your blog--it wasn't for any reason other than once April started I stopped trying to add to that list.

So, the bottom line for me is that 2017 was a successful year of Challenge from all that I could see.  I enjoyed myself and had fun with it.  And it seemed many of you did as well.  There's not much more that I could ask for--other than having the kind of A to Z Challenges that I've described in previous Reflections posts and I leave it to you to research if you want to know more about that.

Did you use the link list that I compiled on my site?   Did you miss having the A to Z Twitter Chats?   Would you be interested in being a part of the 2018 A to Z Team?

Battle of the Bands Results

My previous Battle of the Bands matched two versions of the Crowded House song "Don't Dream It's Over" as performed by Diana Krall and the duo of Miley Cyrus and Ariana Grande.  The outcome in this one did surprise me a bit after some of the flak I got when I posted other battles with Justin Bieber.   I kind of figured that there would be enough Miley Cyrus "hate" to steer voters toward the Diana Krall version.  But as I was already aware there are plenty out there who aren't big Diana Krall fans either.

In my opinion both Cyrus and Grande are immensely talented young singers.  I thought their version was very well performed even with the goofing off in the instrumental break and the goofy attire.  I enjoyed their performance and thought their voices worked very well together.  I liked their version and that's why I used it.

I happen to like Diana Krall and the addition of the string ensemble capped this performance off for me to the point that this is where my vote went.  I agree with those who pointed out the rough quality of her vocals and that caught my attention as well.  The vocal flaws of the live performance are especially apparent when you compare her studio version of the song, but I thought the imperfection added a depth of feeling to this performance and I was okay with it.

The duo looked like it would take the win with a much larger lead for a while, but some later Krall votes came in to make for a better showing.  Not a bad contest in the final tally.

Final Vote Tally

Miley/Ariana                13 votes

Diana Krall                  11 votes

Next Battle on Monday May 15th

I'll be trying to catch all the Reflections posts in the upcoming week so I won't be posting anything until my next Battle of the Bands on Monday May 15th.   Hope to see you then.   Not sure what song I'll be using so no clues since I don't have a clue.

Yearly Events (#atozchallenge)

We are about to wrap up the eighth annual Blogging from A to Z April Challenge.  It's pretty cool to realize that the A to Z Challenge can now be considered a "yearly event"!

Yearly Events

Many families as well as communities have their own special celebrations to commemorate milestones that are especially significant to them.  Throughout the United States one can find events and gatherings in honor of something that people want to remember.  Countless festivals and fairs occur throughout the year in towns, neighborhoods, or even city or statewide.  These are aside from the holiday events that are celebrated nationwide.

For years in my former hometown of Maryville, Tennessee there was a yearly celebration known as Hillbilly Homecoming that was popular with locals and out-of-towners alike.  This event apparently lost favor as something that negatively stigmatized the community even though thousands enjoyed those few days celebrated every year.

Other cities have latched on to events that generate revenue that benefits many businesses and individuals as well while showing a good time to many.  There are street fairs, arts festivals, and so many other celebrations that have retained a popularity that keeps people coming back year after year.

This weekend brings to an end another yearly event--The Blogging from A to Z April Challenge.   From the way bloggers keep coming back to participate and to read it looks like this event might keep going for years to come.

Another yearly tradition that is part of the A to Z Challenge is the A to Z Reflections Posts where many participants return with a post telling about their April experience.  This year the Reflections Post day will officially be on Monday May 8th.   There will be more information about this at the A to Z Blog on Monday May 1st.

Does your family celebrate any yearly traditions?   What are some of the yearly events in the community where you live?   Do you see any value in having yearly events?

A to Z Reflections Post (#atozchallenge) #BOTB Results

Of all blog events, #atozchallenge is the best by far!   The 2016 Blogging from A to Z April Challenge was for me perhaps the best one yet.  After seven years of doing this Challenge, the writing of the posts is much easier.  My Manhattan Project theme was my favorite that I've done so far, something which probably made the writing easier and the month more fun.  I'm pretty pleased with the way things turned out for me this year.

Oh sure, I could list all of the usual things that I've seen as problems in the past, but if you are really interested in those you can go back in my archives and read my past Reflections posts.  A lot of those negatives still remain to be remedied.   Likewise, you'll find positives enumerated in those older posts that still held true in this year's Challenge.  I don't want this post to be a rerun or a rehashing of stuff I've said before.   I'll just leave my view of 2016 as it having been a very good Challenge.

This year I found many exceptional themes presented and met more new bloggers that I've not come across in previous Challenges.  As always, the A to Z Challenge is an amazing showcase of creativity and fine writing.   So despite those smaller irritants that we find while making our way through the list, in the end I think the good outweighs any bad elements of A to Z.  The Reflections posts that I've read already substantiate this positive view of A to Z.

My utmost thanks go to the incredible talent and diligence of the A to Z Team of co-hosts who expend a great deal of time and energy to make the April Challenge the wonderful event that it is.  Special kudos are due to Alex J. Cavanaugh, the blogger extraordinaire who has participated in every Challenge so far and who devoted hours in managing the Linky List for us.   Also I am deeply grateful to Heather M. Gardner for her very capable leadership of the A to Z Team this year.   We all appreciate the artistic talents of Jeremy Hawkins who provided the artwork and graphics used to promote the Challenge and identify participants.

Every Team co-host (names can be found at a-to-zchallenge.com) and the other assistance from each co-host support team (list found here) contributed time, effort, and talent to make the 2016 Challenge a success.   I hope you will stop by all of their blogs to say hello and thank them for what they put into A to Z this time around.

And finally, thanks to all who participated as well as those who watched from the sidelines faithfully reading and commenting on our posts, providing that much needed encouragement that we all need to keep us in the blogging game.  This blogging community is the best in the world because it involves the whole world.  A to Z is a blogging phenomena!

If you have a Reflections post ready or you would like to write one, please visit the A to Z Challenge Blog to sign up.   Be sure to read the directions before adding your link to the list!

Battle of the Bands Results

For my most recent Battle of the Bands I wound up my A to Z Manhattan inspired theme by using Leon Russell's song "Manhattan Island Serenade".    Since I figured Leon's original version was not all that well known, I put it up against a version renamed "Oude Maasweg" by the Dutch band The Amazing Stroopwafels.   Their version begins with Russell's English lyrics and ends with additional verses in Dutch.  If you missed this Battle and would like a listen to the versions you can find it here.

The Dutch version by the Stroopwafels took an amazing lead from the very start.  Though Leon Russell made a valiant effort to catch up, the Stroopwafels retained their lead throughout the contest.  This was surprising to me since I had figured that the majority of voters would go with Leon Russell's original version.   However, some were not familiar with Russell's version and the Stroopwafels swayed voters with their harmonies, smoother sound, and the guitar solo in the break.  This is what won me over as well, putting my vote with the majority who voted for The Amazing Stroopwafels.  Another surprising outcome in Battle of the Bands.

Final Vote Tally:

Amazing Stroopwafels     19

Leon Russell                      10

*************************

Don't Miss the Next Battle!

My next Battle of the Bands post will appear this coming Sunday May 15th.  This Battle might be my most controversial yet.   The reactions might encompass a range including derision, appreciation, mirth, and perhaps even anger.  The song will be from an album that I have enjoyed listening to over the past month and think is one of the better albums released in recent years.   But what can I say other than, again, it all comes down to taste.  I like what I like.   I'll be offering a clue to the upcoming song with a post on Wednesday which will be part of my series on "Love and Ego".    Hope you will join me for these upcoming posts.

Do you agree with my assessment of the 2016 Blogging from A to Z April Challenge?   Would you consider yourself to be a Leon Russell fan?   What do you think might be a highly controversial artist or music style for me to use in my upcoming Battle of the Bands match up?

A to Z Reflections 2014 #atozchallenge

The 2014 Challenge

The A to Z has its detractors and there are some this year who felt that the Challenge does not add anything to their following, viewers, or commenters.   There are a number of factors to be taken into consideration and I think it's important to examine them before coming to a negative conclusion about the Blogging from A to Z April Challenge.

On the whole I have read more raves than boo-hoos about A to Z.  I know that most of you continue to be excited.  There are always those who enter the Challenge with high expectations and leave feeling let down.  I will continue to contend that you get out of the Challenge as much as you put into it.  I urge anyone who feels otherwise to take a deep honest look at your own effort and the benefits reaped.

The Community

On the whole the acquisition of new followers may partly be due to the nature of the community each blogger has developed for themselves.  April  becomes a busy month of moving about and visiting new bloggers.  Not all of these bloggers understand blogging like you or I might understand it.  Some are in it for themselves and Challenge or not this would be the way they would operate anyway.  I'm not sure what else can be done to educate the self-centered bloggers because most likely they are not listening--not even if you say it in a comment on their blogs.

We are each responsible for cultivating our own communities that revolve around each of our blogs.  If you are not getting followers and comments then you need to examine your blog content and the way you interact with other bloggers.   Just because there's a big list of bloggers signed up to an event like A to Z doesn't necessarily mean you will be guaranteed more visits.  You just have a much larger pool of potentially like minded bloggers to tap into.

There is a fault with the way the list is done, but I've discussed this in Reflections posts and Analysis posts in previous years.  I won't go into it again, but you might be interested in going back through previous May posts to see what I think.  My thoughts remain essentially the same.

Generally speaking I think the A to Z blogging community is a fantastic bunch of people with a wide diversity in blogging styles and interests.  The Blogging from A to Z April Challenge remains a vital event with ever-increasing potential.

If you have any negative thoughts about the Challenge I would encourage you to examine those with intensity and understand why you see it the way you do.  I'm inclined to believe the problem is not so much the Challenge itself, but something you may not be doing correctly or a misguided perception about the Challenge.  But let's talk about it.  You can opt for the comment section on this post or open a dialog on the A to Z Blog or with any of the co-hosts.   We want to continually improve on this event.

Tossing It Out and My Blogs

During the A to Z Challenge I gained about 60 new followers at Tossing It Out.  This is actually not bad at all in my estimation.  If you are still not following this blog please click that "Join This Blog" button at the top of my sidebar.   My blog views and comments were fairly consistent with the typical performance of this blog though perhaps down over all.  I'll take the blame for that because of my own decrease of activity in networking.   Though if I look at my blog's performance according to weekly stats rather than per post then the numbers are up considerably.

I'm pleased with my April content on Tossing It Out.   The theme was Marketing and Promotion from A to Z.   My approach was general information with more intent to inspire and encourage than to provide specific details on how to do things.   The posts were fairly pithy and casually delivered.   The response I received was favorable.   I feel good about this year's content on Tossing It Out for the A to Z Challenge.

Not to confuse anyone about the blog you are now reading, I still consider Tossing It Out to be my main blog and will continue to use this blog as the centerpiece of my blogging efforts.  However, during this year's Challenge I was trying to generate more attention to my other blogs.  These efforts might account for some of the lack of performance at Tossing It Out, but my efforts didn't especially provide much boost to my other blogs either.  Here's where I might share some frustration that others of you might have had concerning your results in regard to numbers and stats.

My Other Blogs

You might have already or will eventually run across the Reflections posts I did for these blogs, but I will still mention them here since I was trying to push these during this year's Challenge.

A Few Words may be the kind of blog that many of you prefer to avoid, but I like to think that occasionally I present some topics that might make readers think.   Be forewarned that this is my Bible study blog.  I hope this doesn't stop anyone from reading it, but I think it's only fair to tell you the nature of the content before you go there.  This blog typically publishes on Sundays.

A Faraway View is what I call my dream blog since it is about the sleep activity of dreaming.  My A to Z theme was movies about dreaming or that seem dreamlike.  I hope film fans might go back to those posts and check out my film recommendations and let me know your thoughts.  This blog normally appears only on Thursdays.

Wrote By Rote is the blog that I was promoting the most.   This is my Saturday memoir blog that includes sketches about my own life and articles about the writing of memoir.   I encourage guest posts on this blog.   Of all the content presented on all of my blogs during April, this is the blog where I wrote most from my heart.  I think this was my best effort during the Challenge.   I hope I get a few more visitors to those posts.

Here are some endorsements from some of my Wrote By Rote readers:

Well you've made it to 'Z'. I still can't believe that more folks have not found their way to this marvelous blog. It has become your main blog in my mind. A place where you express so much more than the mundane things every third blogger is also chatting about. I sincerely hope you keep up the great writing here and possibly consider moving more of your efforts to this site, where you really shine.    Faraway Eyes at Faraway Series

I'm kind of in FAE's camp now...I think I prefer this blog to 'Tossing It Out'.

Wrote by Rote is a blog I enjoyed every time I visited, and I think it's not just because you've led a varied and interesting life, but that you know how to describe it so vividly that we can picture ourselves there, beside you.   Lynda Dietz at Easy Reader
