This Is Me--2024 A to Z Theme

My A to Z Themes in the past have covered a range of topics and for 2025 the theme is a random assemblage of things that are on my mind--or that just pop into my mind. Whatever! Let's just say I'll be "Tossing It Out" for your entertainment or however it is you perceive these things.

Nothing Nullifies Nobody ( #AtoZChallenge )

Nothing nullifies nobody is the phrase that came into my head when I thought of the letter 'N'.  No reason maybe, but I think it has something to do with something I must have been thinking at the time.  I'll explain...

#AtoZChallenge 2025 letter N

Not all that long ago there was all this talk about "canceling" people for this or that reason.  There were a few times that I got kicked off Twitter or warned by Facebook for this or that I had said, but I always managed to get back on.  My online reach seems to have diminished since then, but then maybe online activity in the realm of "people I knew" through internet contact have stopped being online as much as they used to.  That's what I've done.  I don't know if there are algorithms that affect me or not.  Or if it really matters for the time being.

Nowadays it seems like we can never tell what is really going on or what is real for that matter.  It seems to me that the internet should make research and finding true answers more easy to accomplish.  No library hassles or feet on the street searches for data. Information should all be at our fingertips as long as we have an internet connection.  Right?  Seems like it to me and yet I find so much that is untrue or strongly biased that it becomes difficult to know what to believe other than applying my own knowledge and logic.

Maybe it's always been like that to some degree.  Maybe we would be better off with nothing. After all, nothing nullifies nobody.

Have you ever felt "canceled" on the internet?   Do you strive for damage control when you see something on the internet that misrepresents you or something else that you feel strongly about?  Would you prefer to start at nothing and learn as you go?

  1. Not so much canceled, but more like practicing self-censorship. Because at this stage of the game, I'm a political moderate in a ocean of those who aren't. Which means I really have to watch what I write on my blog and on FB, because i now post my blog links on FB to get views.

I don't like censorship/canceling of any kind but in today's world, sometimes you have do things that go against your personal morals in order to maintain what you have.

  4. Great post! I got tired of people being mean to each other on FB so I haven't been to my page in years. If they keep at it those who are doing the "canceling" will one day have no free speech - and they have no clue.

  5. I never felt that negativity on the internet but I know it’s out there which is so very sad. One should be able to express their beliefs, whether you agree with them or not, unless it’s about destroying someone, or usurping the government, like Jan 6th, but saying things that others don’t like, well, those people need to get over it and not take a hissy fit. My ex, whom I am good friends with, got banned from Facebook! He is the last person I would have expected to be banned. He took tons of great pictures of his walks and travels, his bad pun jokes and, yes, he would mention his beliefs against Trump and, here in Canada, Pierre Poilievre. When he liked a page called “The friends against Pierre Poilievre, soon after, he was banned! My ex went into a bad anxiety attack because Facebook is where he talks to many friends and where he can express his emotions. It was so bad that he ended up at the hospital and found out he had a panic attack. I was a bit dumbfounded how much he was invested in Facebook. He opened up a Wordpress blog and joined the A to Z challenge showcasing his photography. I am not sure how much he visits others and he does not know how to follow some blogs. I have to see him and show him.personally, if I got banned from Facebook, I’d take that as a badge of honour.
