This Is Me--2024 A to Z Theme
My A to Z Themes in the past have covered a range of topics and for 2024 the theme is a personal retrospective that I call "I Coulda Been" which is in reference to my job and career arc over my lifetime. I'll be looking at all sorts of occupations that I have done or could have done. Maybe you've done some of these too!

Battle of the Bands Winner on a Slow Pre-Christmas Blog Day
Since blog traffic is probably going to be slow today and I'm not exactly here, I'm going to keep the action here at a minimum.
Last week's Battle of the Bands match-up pitted Jethro Tull's version of "We Five Kings" against the Brubeck jazz styled "We Three Kings" as played by Peter Shu. Not too surprisingly our votes for the Tull version were over twice as many as the ones for Peter Shu. I say "our" because that's how I voted. Tull is a favorite band of mine. Like Gary who related his concert experience with Jethro Tull, I too saw the band and would rank that concert as among the best I've ever seen.
Peter Shu's version got a lot of nice comments and I do think his version is very good, but pitted against Tull he is edged out with the final tally being Jethro Tull 13 to Peter Shu at 6.
Don't forget The Fifty States of Pray coming tomorrow, Christmas Eve.
And may you all have a Merry Christmas, or if you don't celebrate that holiday, have a wonderful day.
What are you doing for Christmas? What is the best concert you've ever seen?
Labels:
Battle of Bands,
Jethro Tull,
Peter Shu,
We Three Kings

Loved the post Lee, the bands play an important part in life I believe.
ReplyDeleteThe best concert I went to? well after so many Daniel concerts I have been to I think the best was at Nashville Tennessee nearly three years ago.
What will I be doing at Christmas?
I will be home alone working on my new book as for the past few weeks have neglected it for health reasons. Also I will phone my son John in Spain.
Happy Christmas to you and all your family.
Yvonne.
I tried to help Shu win.
ReplyDeleteQuiet Christmas here with family.
Best concert ever? Rush of course! Which one? Any of the dozens of times I have seen them...
Merry Christmas, Lee.
I've seen Trans Siberian Orchestra seven times in concert, and they always put on the best show.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas, Lee.
Missed that Battle of the Bands post. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas! I'll be running around like a crazy person trying to see all of my family members. My only day off this week and it'll probably be just as exhausting as work.
ReplyDeleteBe well... be safe and have a great holiday...
ReplyDeleteBest concerts? Oh that's easy: The Grateful Dead. I saw 35 shows before Jerry died, plus assorted Garcia Band, Garcia/Grisman, Bob Weir & Mickey Hart shows.
ReplyDeleteWe will make the family rounds on Christmas Day and then home to have my stepson over for dinner. We will celebrate with my stepdaughter on the 28th as she's out of town meeting her boyfriend's family.
Looks like we missed this BotB. Crap. Well, we both love Jethro Tull, and that version was a great one. Glad to see it win without our help.
ReplyDeleteBest concert I've ever been to? A small Indie rock show in a cramped, tiny concert hall in Denver. No lie.
Best concert? Bob Marley or Frank Zappa. Those guys were nonstop entertainers.
ReplyDeleteHope your Christmas is great, Lee. Hubs likes Jethro Tull a lot, he also likes Brubeck, neither faves of mine.
Blast! I wanted Shu to win! Hope your Christmas is lovely, Lee :)
ReplyDeleteI can't say that I am surprised by the Tull victory. Your post reminds me that I need to put something up with my own BOTB results. So much to do before Christmas... I am having difficulty making the ends meet.
ReplyDeleteSee you tomorrow for 50 States of Pray!
I still have to write my 50 States of Pray post. Thanks for the reminder.
ReplyDeleteThis Christmas we're staying close to home and trying to keep the spirit alive in spite of some rocky family events.
Here's my best to you and all you care for. Merry Christmas. Happy New Year.
This was probably my favorite BOTB of yours. Thought of you the other day when I heard the worst Christmas song ever - 'I An Santa Clause'. Yep, you may have guessed it- to the tune of BS's 'Iron Man'.
ReplyDeleteLee-
ReplyDeleteI guess I have been remiss-I was not putting up a results post in my "Renegade BOTB" posts.
Oh well, I am sure any interested parties can count!
Best concert?
I have been to a lot, but I still think I have to give it Springsteen. He may no longer be my favorite, but his shows back in the day were epic in both energy and length.
Merry Christmas, my friend!
