If you've been keeping up with this blog you may be aware that I've been away. I wasn't saying anything about where I was or what I was doing and I was keeping mum for rather ridiculous reasons. I'll explain more about this in upcoming posts and tell a bit about my trip.
Yes, I was away. My wife and I went to Ecuador for ten days. On my Wednesday post I'll share some photos and tell about some of the things we did. Later I'll have some more things related to this trip to share. For now I'm beat. Funny how a trip like that can be rather draining both physically and mentally.
I was tired before I left, but now this is absurd.
Does travel wear you out? How long does it take you to recover from a vacation? How do you feel about traveling outside of the country in which you live?
I think that your excuse makes not writing today's post perfectly acceptable Lee. I always feel the same after a long stretch of travelling so it's more than justifiable that you didn't feel like sitting down and writing a well thought out post that might not be of as good a standard as normal due to being tired. Ecuador sounds like a lot of fun, can't wait to hear all about it!
ReplyDeleteThat's a major trip! I always need a vacation after my vacation. I've traveled to and lived in several foreign countries and always enjoy it.
ReplyDeletePost Wednesday. We're cool with that.
I get jet lag on returning from the US, but it's worth it I think. Going to Spain to visiting my son only takes 2/half hours so that's no problem.
ReplyDeleteI'm pleased you managed to get away but realise how tired you must be feeling. Take care.
Yvonne.
Hawaii is a vacation that is both exciting and restful despite the killer ten hours of flying from here. The longer I stay the better it is! Of course, my husband will tell you I think everything is better in Hawaii!
ReplyDeleteRest up! Looking forward to reading your posts on Ecuador!
PS My book should be available on Amazon this week sometime! I will keep you posted!
I love travelling but yes, it is tiring especially if you spend a lot of time visiting and viewing all the sites.
ReplyDeleteRest up.
I often feel as if I need a rest after my vacation. Hope you all had a lovely time in Ecuador.
ReplyDeleteExciting! Go rest. We'll see you later.
ReplyDeleteYeamie -- My Ecuador trip was a great time, but there is a stupid story behind it from my perspective. I'll tell about that part on Friday.
ReplyDeleteAlex -- Funny how what should be a restful getaway often turns out to be more work than working.
Yvonne -- I don't think I'd attribute my fatigue to jet lag as much as busy schedule.
Pam -- I'm anxious to see how your book release goes!
Jo -- Seemed like we were always on the go. Much different than my normal home life schedule.
Wanda -- Ecuador report begins Wednesday.
Karen -- Africa is going to be a major trip. That's where the jet lag will really kick in.
Teresa -- Seems like all I've been doing is resting since we got back. It's time to get back into the swing of things.

The only kind of restful trip I've ever been on was when we went cabin camping last year. Oh, man, I could really get into sitting on the deck with my morning mocha and writing, again. That was awesome.
ReplyDeleteDid you leave Ecuador the way you found it? I hope you didn't leave a mess.
Have a wonderful trip
ReplyDeleteI get energized by travel
always a physical let down when I return to the "real world"
cant wait to see the photos
I love to travel. For me it is invigorating. I can't wait to see your pics. Rest until then. :)
ReplyDeleteHey Lee, I think your post is just fine. Oh yeah, it takes me time to recuperate from travel. Sleep is the only cure. Welcome back!
ReplyDeleteTraveling is tiring. Usually it's the flying or the driving. When we took a cruise a few years ago, it was wonderful because we just sat back and enjoyed.
ReplyDeleteI hope you took a lot of photos.
Never left Jamaica but loads of stuff can tire you. Enjoy your vacay Arlee and post when you're ready.
ReplyDeleteAndrew -- I'd say we left Ecuador a little better off financially considering what my wife spent.
ReplyDeleteLeslie -- I'll put up a few photos on Wednesday.
Southpaw-- I've always loved traveling, but I was apprehensive about this particular trip.
Stephen -- I've been trying to catch up on sleep and doing fairly well at it.
L. Diane -- I do better at driving trips where I make the schedule. Air travel is more restrictive, hence more tiring for me.

LOL
ReplyDeleteWell, I hope she didn't leave y'all to much worse off.
So exciting to hear you went to Ecuador. Waiting for pictures and post.
ReplyDeleteTraveling has always been at the top of my list of things I love, and since I married a pilot I did a lot of it. I still have a few countries I've missed, so I keep my passport up to date and my battered suitcase at the ready.
Ecuador sounds like an interesting vacation spot. I must say the only international travel I've done was to Cozumel as part of a cruise. But I would love to do some out-of-country travel long as I have all my ducks in a row.
ReplyDeleteI can certainly understand needing a vacation from your vacation lol!
I was always exhausted after vacation when the kids were little. When I go places with just my husband, I find I can actually rest and recharge.
ReplyDeleteSomeone I know was in Ecuador for 5 months.
ReplyDeleteInternational travel is exhausting for me. For the most part, I appear to be over it. Domestic travel is more my style these days but I am angry at the airlines so even that is on hold. You make me very curious about your trip.
ReplyDeleteBOIDMAN ~
ReplyDeleteQuitcher belly-achin'! Why, when I was your age, I had to walk to Ecuador, uphill both ways... barefooted! I had to party all day and be home in time for dinner.
So don't be tellin' me about bein' tired after a 10-day trip to Ecuador. You kids today don't know how good you've got it!

It absolutely wears me out! I always need a vacation after my vacation. The travel to and from Fiji a couple years ago was like a vacation Bataan death march...just draining...but being there was incredibly awesome and I would go again in a minute.
ReplyDeleteAndrew -- I guess we'll be okay. It's her money.
ReplyDeleteC.Lee -- If I could afford it I'm sure I'd travel more. I've always enjoyed traveling, though I've become a bit of a homebody of late.
Angela --After having made the trip, I'd highly recommend Ecuador to anyone.
Susan GK -- A vacation should be about getting rested.
Ice girl-- I could spend more time there if the opportunity arose. There's a lot to see and do.
Gracie -- I still prefer to travel domestically. Love the U.S.!
Chuck -- Fiji is too far for me, but your accounts made it sound like a nice place to go.
Lee
StMc-- Oops! You ended up in spam for saying that. Walking is nothing. You should try flying. Damn are my arms tired!
ReplyDeleteLee
I hope you get some much needed rest Lee. Looking forward to hearing all about Ecuador!
ReplyDeleteJulie
Welcome back! Look forward to hearing more about your trip.
ReplyDeleteIts Tuesday for me, and I'm pooped from a long day at work. I should be working on my WIP, but instead, I wrote my blog for tomorrow and reading blogs.
ReplyDeleteSometimes you need a break.
Hugs and chocolate,
Shelly
Julie-- The way I've been feeling this past week it seems like I'll never catch up on rest. My wife and I have both been very tired. Getting older I guess.
ReplyDeleteSusanne -- A little bit more is coming.
Shelly -- I need to get back to my writing. Soon I hope.
Lee
Hi Lee - it is stressful .. and you're away from your normal life, and in another country ..
ReplyDeleteBut it sounds like you had a great time - and I'm so pleased for your wife that she was able to go home and meet friends and family again .. and introduce her daughter!
Cheers Hilary
