This Is Me--2024 A to Z Theme

My A to Z Themes in the past have covered a range of topics and for 2025 the theme is a random assemblage of things that are on my mind--or that just pop into my mind. Whatever! Let's just say I'll be "Tossing It Out" for your entertainment or however it is you perceive these things.

O Holy Night ( #BOTB )

I'm getting the feel of Christmas of late.  My wife and I have been binging on Hallmark Christmas movies and paid a rare visit to the mall on Sunday.  And I've been playing Christmas songs in our church youth band that has been recently started up.  Well, not an all youth band since I'm in it.  At least it's been making me feel somewhat young.  But now for some Christmas music...

Battle of the Bands

Battle of the Bands is the blogging event started by Far Away Series and  StMcC Presents Battle of the Bands.   I do this event  each month on the 15th and the 1st of the month.  The premise is simple:  Listen to the songs presented below and then in the comments vote for your favorite and tell us why you liked it.  Then visit the links listed near the bottom of this post for more Battle action.

O Holy Night

This is one of my all time favorite Christmas songs.  I used to sing it to my younger brother when he was about 5 and he would ask me to sing "Fall on Your Knees" for him before he went to sleep. I was about 14 at the time.  When I hear this song I can't help but think of those times.  Here are two versions of the song for you to consider and then tell us which you like best...

Lost Dogs   "O Holy Night"  (2007)

Rebecca St James  "O Holy Night"  (1997)

Time to Vote!

Don't be naughty!  Be nice.  Vote please.   Which song interpretation do you prefer?  Battles are no fun without you the reader participating.
Hopefully you have an opinion of some kind.  You don't have to know about music to have an opinion since it all comes down to your own personal taste.

Please vote on your favorite by letting us know your choice in the comment section and tell us why you prefer the version you chose. Then after you've finished here, please visit the other blogs listed below who may or may not be participating this time around. And if you've put up your own BOTB contest let us know that as well so we can vote on yours. I don't know if anyone else will be doing a Battle this time around, but you can still check out these sites.

  1. Well...okay, I won't be naughty. Let it go on record that I'm protest your request. :) Alrighty your battle. This was easy peasy for me. Lost Dogs does it better. The overall tone is more reverent touching my heart like the song is intended to do. Rebecca St James was too pop sounding for me.

I'm glad to read you're getting more active in the Christmas fun. Those Hallmark movies are sure to give you a nudge. We watch those frequently during December. They're ever bit predictable but the scenes and decorations are beautiful! We went to the mall Friday. West Town isn't like it use to be in the 80s and 90s. That's when they really knew how to deck the mall halls, Fah-la-la-la-la!

It's so cold here this morning, as I conclude his message it reads 12.9º outside. They were saying 12º but I'm sure it'll drop a few more degrees before the sun rises. I'm ready for summer! lol Have a joyful Christmas season, my friend. OH yeah, happy anniversary!
