Battle of the Bands
Battle of the Bands is the blogging event started by Far Away Series and now hosted by StMcC Presents Battle of the Bands. This event happens each month on the 15th and on some there is also a Battle on the 1st of the month. My blog is one of those with a second Battle excepting over these summer months. The premise is simple: Listen to the songs presented below and then in the comments vote for your favorite and tell us why you liked it. Then visit the links listed near the bottom of this post for more Battle action.
Cómo Te Extraño Mi Amor
Leo Dan "Como Te Extrano" (1964)
Cafe Tacuba "Como Te Extrano" (1996)
Don't think that this music is too strange for you. C'mon! It's just music. In other words, which song version do you like best? Hopefully you have an opinion of some kind. You don't have to know about music to have an opinion since it all comes down to your own personal taste.
Please vote on your favorite by letting us know your choice in the comment section and tell us why you prefer the version you chose. Then after you've finished here, please visit the other blogs listed below who may or may not be participating this time around. And if you've put up your own BOTB contest let us know that as well so we can vote on yours. I don't know if anyone else will be doing a Battle this time around, but you can still check out these sites.
Here are some other places where you might find BOTB posts:

'Curious as a Cathy'
Sound of One Hand Typing
Jingle, Jangle, Jungle
I think I like the second one better. It has more energy.

I'm with Alex here. Leo Dan was just a little too mechanical. Cafe Tecuba for me.
ReplyDeleteJohn, mechanical didn't come to my mind but I get it. Pure sixties pop to my ears.

I have to go with the original. I like his voice and his style. Thec2nd one was just too boyish for me.
ReplyDeleteBirgit, boyish? Well, I guess the band is all male.

BOIDMAN ~
ReplyDelete>>... "St. Patrick's Day is upon us once again, so why not celebrate music with a popular song in Spanish."
That makes perfect sense to me. (Which should probably scare me a bit.)
I am definitely (also surely, and certainly) casting my BOTB "bote" for Cafe Tacuba. I like the energy of it and the more varied, interesting instrumental approach. Not to mention the fact that the Leo Dan recording was just too croon-y for my tastes.
Will you be featuring 'Whiskey In The Jar', 'Molly Malone', or 'Carrickfergus' on the next 'Day Of The Dead'? ;-)

STMcC, croony? Getting all sorts of artist descriptions in this Battle. Lately my blog is like anything can happen day on the mickey mouse club.

>>... "STMcC, croony?"
DeleteNo, "croon-y".
(The devil is in the details, Boid!)

Well, we can't all be Irish, right? 😉 Anyway, I love Spanish music. Leo Dan does have a very 60s sound, and, while I like that, it was Café Tacuba who got my toes tapping. An instant mood lifter. Olé!
ReplyDeleteDebbie D, I've got Irish heritage on my father's side, but I don't think about it much.

I will vote for the original this time around. Traveling, so I will keep it brief!

Leo Dan gets my vote here.
ReplyDeleteAfter a few years hiatus, I am returning to the A2Z Challenge! I hope I haven't bitten off more than I can chew, but I am giving it a good effort. Have the posts planned out - just need to get them written and scheduled.
Mary B, glad to see you back with A to Z! Just relax and enjoy. I'm working on my posts now and making slow progress.

Darn, this wasn't the easy choice I thought listening to the first one! I think the music on #2 wins me though. Aside: I have decided to mash up, I'll be having fun with the odd and obscure people running for President, and will post on the 1st and 15th this time.
ReplyDeleteCW, good to have your creative mash-up again. I'll try to keep abreast of the situation.
