Battle of the Bands
Battle of the Bands is the blogging event started by Far Away Series and StMcC Presents Battle of the Bands. I do this event each month on the 15th and the 1st of the month. The premise is simple: Listen to the songs presented below and then in the comments vote for your favorite and tell us why you liked it. Then visit thHe links listed near the bottom of this post for more Battle action.
Ana Victoria "Lamento Boliviano" (2014)
If you are curious about the English translation here is a link to a version that is sung in English and displays the lyrics as such. Kind of strange lyrics in a way, but I guess it's about Bolivia, so there. Please do not vote for this version as it is here for your reference only.
Time to Vote!
Don't use the excuse that you don't understand Spanish! Enjoy the music! Which song interpretation do you prefer? Battles are no fun without you the reader participating. Hopefully you have an opinion of some kind. You don't have to know about music to have an opinion since it all comes down to your own personal taste.
Please vote on your favorite by letting us know your choice in the comment section and tell us why you prefer the version you chose. Then after you've finished here, please visit the other blogs listed below who may or may not be participating this time around. And if you've put up your own BOTB contest let us know that as well so we can vote on yours. I don't know if anyone else will be doing a Battle this time around, but you can still check out these sites.
Here are some other places where you might find BOTB posts:

'Curious as a Cathy'
Sound of One Hand Typing

Both are good but I'll go with the first one.
ReplyDeleteNovember already! And the government still closed. Unbelievable.
Alex, crazy times with Congress!
DeleteVoting kicks off with Alcohol Etilico.

I'll go with Alcohol Etilico as well. I like their groove.
ReplyDeleteJohn, groovy...

Great story about you and your Mrs. ;-) Fun song, too. I'll go with Alcohol Etilico.
ReplyDeletediedre, my wife likes to tell that story to her family.
DeleteAgain it's Alcohol Etilico.
Lee
Both good, definitely #1 for me.
ReplyDeleteCW, I think they're both good too.

BOIDMAN ~
ReplyDeleteBased upon your opening sentences, I was already cringing, expecting some loud, annoying racket. However, this was actually pert-goot, and I liked both renditions, although I slightly prefer the Alcohol Etilico recording. (I wonder if Everclear was inspired by them when it came to naming their own band.)

Ha-Ha! After leaving my comment yesterday, I came within the width of a gnat's eyelash of adding a "POSTSCRIPT" saying: "Don't worry, Lee. Sixgun Sheboyganboy will appear here eventually to put an end to this shutout".
DeleteBut, gee, how could I possibly have known?!!
Like Daphne Moon, I get these psychic flashes at times.

STMcC, I was beginning to think I was indeed going to have a shutout. Don't know anything about how Everclear came up with their name, but I don't think they were influenced by this Argentine band.

StMcC-
DeleteYou've simply become accustomed to me fixing your errors! You're welcome.

Hola, Lee.
ReplyDeleteMe gusta más la segunda. El cantante de la primera es peor que Bob Dylan.
Seis Pistolas McDedoinquieto
6-Gun, thanks for changing the trend of this Battle outcome. I do think you got it wrong about the vocals. Check out their studio recording of the song.
DeleteA vote for Ana Victoria.
Lee
I would expect studio vocals to be as good as they can do, so I am sure they must be better, but I didn't hear those or vote on those. I think it undeniable that his vocals on this LIVE performance are weak. At least he isn't auto-tuning live vocals like so many are doing these days. That is cheating with many opportunities for a major problem if the tuning goes wonky!

I preferred Ana Victoria vocally better and she's definitely sexier sounding than the guys in the first video. Plus, I like the bigger music sound. It just gets right into your body and makes me want to move. I like Ana so much so that I'm going to YouTube to sample more of this groups music. That all being said, please give my vote to the version with the most spice all the way around, Lamento Boliviano!
ReplyDeleteCathy, I agree with your assessment. Ana does have the cleaner slicker sound.
DeleteAnother vote for Ana Victoria.
Lee
Here I thought i voted...I prefer the 2nd one to the original. I didn't know what to expect with a title like that.
ReplyDeleteBirgit, the title doesn't give away much. Not to me at least.
DeleteAnother vote for Ana Victoria.

Oh, how fun! I hadn't heard this song before! Voting for the original, Alcohol Etilico. Speaking of Argentina, I love Soda Stereo!
ReplyDeleteDeniz, I've got at least one Soda Stereo CD. Haven't listened in a long time, but I used to enjoy them a great deal. Just don't listen to music like I used to.
DeleteAnother vote for Alcohol Etilico.

Let me get these results out of the way though it seems pretty obvious. My vote went with Alcohol Etilico but I do like the smooth sound of Ana Victoria.
ReplyDeleteFinal Vote Tally
Alcohol Etilico 7 votes
Ana Victoria 3 votes

ReplyDeleteThis one went about the way I guessed it would. I liked both recordings but preferred the pizzazz (or "spice", as Cathy described it) of the original artist.
