This Is Me--2024 A to Z Theme
My A to Z Themes in the past have covered a range of topics and for 2024 the theme is a personal retrospective that I call "I Coulda Been" which is in reference to my job and career arc over my lifetime. I'll be looking at all sorts of occupations that I have done or could have done. Maybe you've done some of these too!

I Lived "My Church" This Past Sunday (#BOTB Results)
I'm going to make this BOTB Results post short and to the point, though first I'd like to tell you about my Sunday. I started out early from Marion Virginia which is in the southwest part of that state. I spent hours driving through the mountain back routes, passing through Boone NC before heading back to Interstate 75 to Chattanooga TN and finally landing in Bessemer Alabama where I am as I write this post.
Talk about worship and praising God from the seat of my van. It was just like the song "My Church" talked about. I saw some beautiful aspects of God's creation and got to my destination safely. I felt like shouting "Hallelujah!" many times with a few "Amens!" now and then. Sundays don't get much better than that one.
Heading home soon. It's been a great trip so far.
My Vote
My previous battle was a showdown between Maren Morris and Home Free performing renditions of Maren's song "My Church". My person favorite was Home Free because of the harmonizing. A few agreed with me, but Maren handily ran away with the win. Not what I expected, but often those outcomes aren't.
Final Vote Tally
Maren Morris 15 votes
Home Free 5 votes
Next Battle will be on Sunday July 15th
I should be able to do this. My plan is to stay with the "church" theme. Kind of. Maybe I should say "spiritual"--yeah, I guess that's what I'll say.

You passed through some beautiful spots. Safe travels getting home.
ReplyDeleteAlex, to me travel confirms the glory of God's creation more than just about anything else. God's handiwork is amazing!

I've been to Boone several times. One of my authors lives there. A beautiful area of NC.
ReplyDeleteL.Diane, I hadn't been to Boone since high school and don't really remember it. Now I want to go back to spend at least a few days.

Sounds like a great trip! Hope all goes well on the drive home. At least you didn't get a shutout on this battle. Maren was my choice, as well.
ReplyDeleteDebbie D, I would have been surprised to see a shut-out, but Home Free had my vote so there would have been that.

It was a good song, LEE, with two very good recordings of it. I sided with the VERY GREAT MINORITY in this Battle, which I really feel should have had a much closer outcome in terms of voting margin. But the one thing we can be sure of about 'Battle Of The Bands' is that we really can't be sure of anything.
ReplyDeleteStay safe, Brother, and I'll meet up with you again during the 7/15 rounds of BOTB.

STMcC Presents 'BATTLE OF THE BANDS'
STMcC, I actually thought Home Free would win this one, but you know how that can go.
DeleteJust another couple of Battles before I pull off what might be a big surprise. I hope it comes off as planned.

I would love to 'free style' on the way back from Ohio in August and hit some states I haven't been to yet. I miss road tripping.
ReplyDeleteJoJo, If I had the time and money I'd take off on some wild random ramblings. Maybe someday I'll do more of the road-tripping if things come together in the right way.

My husband and I have not taken a road trip for a long time. You're setting a wonderful example for the rest of us.
ReplyDeletePatricia, you all should plan a trip and just go! Even a short few day trip can make for a nice getaway and inspire you for more travels later.
