I'd like to travel back in time to see if I really did some of the stupid things I seem to remember doing.
Time Travel
Some of you regular readers of my blog perhaps are aware of my interest in the topic of time travel. I've written more than a few blog posts about time travel. It's one of my favorite genres of film and literature. If I hear about a television show having to do with time travel then I will likely watch it until they take it off the air.
As for actual time travel, if it were real and safe, you can darn well bet that I'd be willing to go back in time. As long as I were able to return in an intact state of good health, I'd be a willing subject to journey back into the past. I'd have to give the future a second thought since I wouldn't have anything specific I'd want to see, but the past is another story---There are so many places, people, and events I'd like to experience first hand
If I could travel back only a month or two from today, I'd finish the rest of my A to Z posts since now I've come to the point where I'm whipping out posts at the last minute. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one doing this. And it won't be the first time for me. In some ways working under pressure suits me. It's not my preference, but even as far back as my days in school, the procrastinated last minute paper due to be turned in tomorrow seems to be a common state of affairs.
Just saying. In fact, this post you are reading now could very well be the lead-in for my next post. After all, my A to Z posts are all about time, Time is my theme. My posts for the Challenge are travelling through time. Yeah. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. It's a series and it travels through time.
If you could travel through time, where would you go? Thinking of a potential scientific theory, how do you think a person could travel through time if it could absolutely happen? Do you have any remaining posts left to compose for the Challenge?

Time travel ? No I don't want to go back in time . I think the present and the future is important. The mistakes I have made I have learned from them so don't wish to be reminded of them .

Yvonne, but what if we are mistaken about the past and what we believe to have been mistakes? Sometimes a retrospective look can be revealing.

I don't wish to revisit my own past, that's known and pretty mundane. If I could go back deeper - yes! I'd love go back and meet some of my favourite writers, and/or see life as it was lived 500 or 5000 years ago.
ReplyDeleteNilanjana, it would be so interesting to go back to see if things were really like they seem to be from what we think we know. Did food taste the same? What was everyday life like in populated areas? What were people discussing? It would be fascinating to immerse oneself temporarily in the past. Just so I could come back safely to where I had started.

Too much wisdom and you would never have made the mistakes that gave you that wisdom. So I don't know if time travel would have helped. lol

ReplyDeleteI think if I could go back in time, I'd like to go back the year to the days when I was pregnant with my first child. I would tell DH the things I know now to prepare us for the future with the hopes of changing the way things have played out. I don't know if knowing what we do now would make a difference even if I could change this but it would be worth the try. I don't regret the way things turned out but at the same time I know it could be better. We always did what we thought was the best for our children regardless if they saw it that way or not. They won't even begin understand the sacrifices we made until they are facing parenthood. Speaking of time, this is the first year for to have all of my A2Z posts completed and it's been a huge help, too. Thanks for hosting the fun and for your faithfulness to visit me frequently!

Cathy, if there were something I could change that would affect me in the present it would be to set aside more money for the future and not waste it on certain dumb expenditures. But then that would be messing with the time line and I don't think that is wise.

I would travel back in time to the late 1800s and/or early 1900s, and buy all the beaded purses and marbles I could get my hands on!!!!!!!

From a safe distance, of course. Exploring ancient ruins is something I love. My mind transports back to those times and I envision what life was like there.
ReplyDeleteDebbie D, I'd want to be safe by all means, but I'd also want to be as close to any action as possible. Seeing the old buildings back when they were new and in their glory would be a very exciting thing.

If I could travel back in time, it would be to a time before I was born. Perhaps to watch Easter Island as the statutes were being built just to see how the heck they did that.

I wouldn't go back far, just the 60's when I lived as a young man in London. I'd like to find out what I did, because most of it is still a blur!

If it were possible, which I doubt it, once you go back you instantly change things. So the time you left stays as is while you are stuck in a new timeline and can't get back to your timeline. That or what has happened was meant to happen. I'd go get the lottery numbers in the future. Screw going to the past, I wouldn't want to get stuck. But time is made by man, it can be judged differently, therefore time travel I doubt is possible. Or at least time travel to exactly where you want to be.

Travel of any kind is my fascination, but to be able to travel in time is at the top of my list. I'd love to go back and, like you, see if I really did what I remember.

I would like to travel back through time to observe my grandmother. She was such an interesting lady and unfortunately I didn't get to record her life events before she died.
ReplyDeleteNo A-Z Challenge for me this year. There are a couple of time periods I would love to visit. Especially to see Jesus and Shakespeare.

ReplyDeleteI keep thinking I'd like to go back to when my father died and coach myself through lots of things I know I got wrong the first time.
I'd love to travel either back or forwards in time, though there's that nagging fear of doing some seemingly insignificant thing that upsets the entire balance of history (either on a grand scale or within one's own family) and leads to a much different present.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to visit prehistory, Ancient Greece and Rome, the Renaissance, the 1920s, or the 1960s. It'd also be fun to visit and live in NYC when it was still possible for normal-income people to live there comfortably and enjoy a good cost of living. I know many people who live there today are neither rich nor living in Section Eight housing, but the overall cost of living was much lower in decades past. The city I've read about in historical fiction and memoirs seems so far away.
I wouldn't mind going back to poke around... as long as I don't have to meet my younger self. Let him figure it out for himself like I did. I'd just like to go back and see some of the times I miss.

ReplyDeleteI remember going back into my kindergarten room as an adult and being amazed at how small the kitchen set looked. When I was 5 it was the best and the biggest. Not so much decades later. I would love to go back and revisit other people and events just to see them through older eyes.
A Topic that we often discuss (and argue) with ourself, good Sir Arlee... made many "mistakes" (as well as "poor judgement")...

ReplyDeleteI love time travel too...if there is a tv show or a movie, you can bet I'm watching it. If I could go back in time, and not have it affect my current timeline, I'd go back and visit my grandparents...I miss them!

I'd like to know if it was safe and I wasn't going to change the present or future because that's scary stuff. I'd just observe very unobtrusively. Perhaps to see some of Charles Dickens' public book readings - he was very charismatic. I'm sure there's loads of other stuff. I still need to finish all my posts too - being organised is a good intention but it usually doesn't work out!
ReplyDeleteI am always intrigued by time travel and would love to do this. I'f I could pick a place as well, I would love to see the Titanic. I would love to see how certain places looked like before we destroyed it...like Niagara Falls before all the tacky shops were there or Hollywood circa 1911 just when some of the film crew were coming out that way. I finally finished writing my A To Z on Monday

Time Travel would have it's positive points and negative ones. It would be painful to return if visiting someone who is not in our present, but on that same note just to see them again would be amazing. So then you have to weigh out, is it worth losing them all over again to just see them one last time?
ReplyDeleteBeyond that though. On the more important matter of last minute posting. I love planning in advance but the anticipation of what is to post kills me! And normally by the time something posts that I planned in advance the romance is dead as I've already charted new more exciting ventures. Though it is far less stressful to take care of business before pleasure, no? ;)
