Hey, this blogging is work! I'm up early to post my feature for the day and then spend the day reading and commenting on blogs, researching for upcoming articles, and writing the articles for future posts. Then whenever I can squeeze it in I'm plugging away on my NaNo novel. I keep going to check my mailbox, but still no paycheck. Let's face it--this blogging is a labor of love.
Still posting every day! This was a pretty good week. If you didn't see my review and interview with the great musician Sebastian Sidi, I hope you will go back and check it out. This week I will be visiting with Ada Jackson, an artist from New Jersey. She will be talking about the art that she dreams of and the art that pays her bills right now. It's a story that many of you will probably identify with so I hope you will check that out on Wednesday. I've got a real variety of interviews and feature stories in the weeks to come. If you haven't done so already sign on as a follower so you won't miss any of these interesting people.
Monday I'll fill you in with another NaNo update. My novel is progressing. Of course there have been some snags and I'll let you know how I've dealt with them and hopefully hear how some of you other NaNo particpants have coped with the challenges you have faced.
Have you ever seen a movie that's so bad that it's good? That will be my topic on Tuesday. I recently saw a really bad movie that it has become a cult favorite for many folks. I'll tell you about that one and some other bad movies that might make you as curious as I was to see them. Surely I've got better things to do with my time, but sometimes we just need to indulge in some foolishness.
Thursday I'll put forth another topic for debate and discussion. My last debate topic on welfare families got some good discussion and I want to thank those who voiced their opinions. You'll have to check back next Thursday for a new topic. Will you agree or will I really raise your hackles with what I have to say? Come on and join in the discussion.
On Friday I hope I come up with another story that is mysterious, chilling, or downright weird. This past week I had a tale of an unexplained draft in a house in England. Was it a ghost or an evil spirit? If you want to know go back and read the story of The Mystery of the Drafty Room.
What about the rest of you blogging out there? Why do you do it? What will be your future payoff for your efforts? And those who read this blog, do you enjoy it? What suggestions do you have for me to improve the blog? Do you have an idea for a story or a topic of debate? Please let me hear from you even if it's just a friendly hello or an insolent "blog off". It's just nice to know that someone reads this far to notice.
And if you got this far, then a big thank you and hope to see you again!
This Is Me--2024 A to Z Theme
My A to Z Themes in the past have covered a range of topics and for 2024 the theme is a personal retrospective that I call "I Coulda Been" which is in reference to my job and career arc over my lifetime. I'll be looking at all sorts of occupations that I have done or could have done. Maybe you've done some of these too!

Go ahead and say something. Don't be afraid to speak your mind.
I normally try to respond to all comments in the comment section so please remember to check the "Email follow-up comments" box if you want to participate in the comment conversation.
For Battle of the Bands voting the "Anonymous" commenting option has been made available though this version is the least preferred. If voting using "anonymous" please include in your comment your name (first only is okay) and city you are voting from and the reason you chose the artist you did.

I blog because... once I start thinking of things I want to write blogs about, I can't stop! Also because I love to communicate what I find fascinating about stories - which is just about everything! And the third reason I blog is because it's great to make contact with other like-minded people. BTW, I love your blog titles!
ReplyDeleteThank you dwcandy. I think you expressed my sentiments as well. And thank you for the compliment --sometimes I spend almost as much time trying to think up titles as I do the content of the post itself.
ReplyDeleteI checked out your website and added it to my favorite places so I can go back to look at it more in depth.

Lee, you raised some good points. I blog because it's a way to say what I'm thinking and then have others read it and, like you, follow because they enjoyed or agreed. Though when I started, it was a way to vent, to organize my thoughts and feelings. After others started leaving comments, I found that they were encouraging. I don't know that I envision my "regular" blog as anything other than communication. My writing blogs, I hope will enable me to write a book. For myself, I don't really want you to change your blog. I like what you write and the thought provoking questions you ask or discussions that ensue after one of your posts. I like your blog!
ReplyDeleteI blog because I was born to...I just didn't know it until July of this year. I also didn't know I would make friends blogging, an added bonus.
ReplyDeleteI love to write, so it's a no brainer for me.

Blogging is work! My husband checks the mail everyday in expectation!
ReplyDeleteI really love blogging, but because it is so much work I only post three days out of the week. I do try and stay current with visiting everyday except Sunday.
I have gleaned so much from people is the community, there is a thread that links us.
Keep being uniquely you, that's why I enjoy coming and seeing what you have to say.
Wow, this blog is so rich! What an amazing work you're doing. I haven't been able to keep up with my blog as much as I wanted. It takes a lot of time, but I hope that soon I will be back posting much more often. Because it's worth it. I'm so proud of it.
ReplyDeleteYep, blogging is hard work. And sometimes seems unrewarding. I started my blog on depression because I want to show others lost in that dark place, that there is a way out. Sometimes I receive comments and emails from readers that encourage me that my efforts have not been in vain.
ReplyDeleteI also reactivated my 'second' blog today. I took it down because was not sure what direction to send it in. I think I'll let it go in any direction now, LOL.
All the best with your NaNoWriMo. So tempting so participate, but writing a book is the easy part for me. What to do with it after wards is the problem...I hate editing.
Well, all of the comments have been very reaffirming for me to read. For me, aside from just the writing itself, the biggest payoff is when someone reads what I've posted and not only leaves a comment, but a darn good comment.
ReplyDeleteI thank everyone of you who has commented thus far and anyone who may comment in the future.
