This Is Me--2024 A to Z Theme

My A to Z Themes in the past have covered a range of topics and for 2024 the theme is a personal retrospective that I call "I Coulda Been" which is in reference to my job and career arc over my lifetime. I'll be looking at all sorts of occupations that I have done or could have done. Maybe you've done some of these too!

Victories and Vacations (Elements of Blogging) #AtoZChallenge

We enjoy an uplifting story that gives us hope in our own lives.  History is filled with countless stories of the victories of nations, communities, and individuals.  The stories of winning and achieving over tremendous odds tend to thrill us.  A blog that depicted such stories on a regular basis could likely have readers returning often for an empowering dose of the positive.  A blog dedicated to victories could have an endless number of subtopics.

Like travel blogs, blogging about vacations holds many possibilities for interesting stories and visually entertaining photos.  A vacation blogger can blog about their own vacation adventures as well as general information about vacation trips that we all might dream about at one time or another.
Vacation blogging can include information about popular hot spots as well as lesser known destinations.   This type of blog provides an opportunity to offer readers coupons, deals, and travel services.

The letter "V" might seem like a limiting one for blog topics but I'll bet you can think of many.  How about veterinary topics, vaccines, or the Vatican?   You can travel the world from Virginia to Venezuela to Viet Nam.

What are some blog themes that you can think of that start with the letter "V"?   Do you ever blog about your own vacations?    What has been your favorite vacation memory?

  1. I like to post about my vacations, though I consider travel posts to be the most difficult ones to do due to the amount of photos I have to sift through and narrow down to a few to accompany the blog post!

    1. It's probably good to limit the number of photos used since it can slow loading a blog page. You can always do a number of shorter posts devoted to the specifics of the places you've visited and sights you saw.

  2. I love vacations, have had some good ones and places I been to are ones I'd never dreamed I would visit.
    Excellent topic for "V".

    Enjoy your week-end.

  4. I enjoy vacation posts, both to create and read -especially ones about road trips. As for v topics let us not forget vampires. Gah!

    1. I was trying to forget vampires! Love road trips--taking them or reading about them.

    2. Lee, you can read about my road trip up the Al-Can Highway to Alaska in the 70's if you'd like. I used that for my T post in the challenge this year.

  6. I always blog about trips and vacations! I have so many great vacation memories it's hard to pick just one. But my trip to Vancouver Island in 2007 stands out as one of the best vacations I've ever taken.

    1. I've been to the city of Vancouver, but not to Vancouver Island. That would be a nice place to visit. I enjoy seeing even your day trip photos.

  7. I blogged a recent vacation and enjoyed sharing about each day. We had a super trip last May to visit my daughter, son in law and grandson in Illinois. Favorite memory, wow! How do you pick one? Oh, wait a minute, now I got it, 2005, Irene and I were given a 7 day Western Caribbean Cruise - the entire seven days, the ship, the ports, the whole thing was a great memory!

    1. I've never been on a cruise. I've heard the food is great. I wonder if I could have the cruise experience without being out in the water? Or maybe that's Las Vegas.

    1. Vacations don't have to be faraway or fancy. It's good to get away. It's also good to just stay at home and maybe do something different than normal or just enjoy each day.

  10. Blog about vacations?? I never get a vacation! Seriously, my last REAL vacation -- one in which I go to somewhere I've never been, someplace exotic, with the sheer goal of relaxing and exploring -- was in 2000! I'm almost ashamed to admit that. But most of my trips involve visiting family and I don't really consider those vacations. In fact, I just got home yesterday after having been in North Carolina helping out my parents for nearly a month! I've been gone since two days before the A-Z started and just got home yesterday --almost the entire A-Z --- which has made it difficult to really devote as much time to it as I had planned, but we had a medical emergency with my Dad so most of my time has been spent there. I did the best I could with visiting other blogs but had the situation been more normal, I would've been able to visit many more. Re: me vacation blogging: if only! And I wish!!! :)

  13. We are vacation people. We take lots four day cruises from Long Beach. We find them on the cheap, sometimes as low as $169.00 a person.

  14. Victories are good. I tend to like dark books, so Valkyries... Not vampires so much--I like the less mainstream mythologies. VIKINGS! That is my roots, and Vikings certainly traveled a lot.

  15. I too wrote about vacations. I think reading another persons vacation blog is a good thing. For places I've been to, I get ideas for a next trip. For places I've never been to, I can live vicariously through their trip.

  22. As a strong pro-vaccination advocate, I definitely read a lot of blogs talking about vaccinations and why they're important! I don't understand how some people even think that's a debate in the 21st century, or how these people giggle off diseases like polio and whooping cough as no big deal.

  24. Having the feeling of victory over something that is a little bit harder than we thought is like a crowning jewel and would be cherished for quite a long time.

When I joined this A-Z Challenge I never knew that I could come up with such topics and express my feelings I don't usually do.

I guess I would that I'm victorious in this challenge and thank you for letting me in.. 'til next year! ♥

  26. I enjoy reading travel blogs about vacations becuse I often find places I want to visit. I've never blogged about my own vacation because ever since we bought a condo ( vacation ) home in Perdido Key, Florida we no longer take vacations to new and interesting places. That was the trade off of owning our own place on the beach- we had to give up traveling around the world. I love our beach condo, but I miss visiting new places

  27. Visiting family is about the only vacation I ever get, but I have the greatest time because I don't see my family often. We live in different states. I know it's been at least ten years since I've seen my baby sister because she lives in NY. It's hard for everyone to coordinate their schedules to get together at the same time.

  28. Yes, I write about our vacations all the time. ☺ Still working on the "Greek Odyssey" series, which details our trip there in 2013. We toured much of the mainland as well as the southern islands. It was our 40th anniversary trip and my lifelong dream come true. Now I can die happy! Still plenty of places on the bucket list, but the bulk of our travelling days are likely behind us now.
