- Direct email to those bloggers you know who haven't signed up.
- Announce in places where there could be bloggers (church, school, meetings, etc.)
- Post notices on bulletin boards (library, church, school, laundromat, etc.)
- "What's happening" sections of local newspapers.
- Whatever means your creative mind comes up with.
Why the thousand by March 1st? Oh, I don't know--it sounds good. But seriously, we want this to be the jumping up point for the next and final phase of sign-ups. We expect a sudden rush in the last week of March and last minute decisions at the beginning of April. Those of you who have already begun visiting those who are now on the list know how advantageous it has been to have these early sign-ups. I've seen many of you making the rounds and making new friends in the process--not to mention the added followers.
If more people sign up in these weeks before the Challenge rather on those last few days, we are all ahead of the game and will be less likely to miss some of those blogs that might have waited or will allow our own blogs to have the opportunity to be viewed and marked now as opposed to later. It's a win-win situation for all concerned. So please help us in our push for a thousand by March 1st.
And Still More News....
Next week on February 28th is the release of Alex J Cavanaugh's Cassafire. There's a big party on that day to celebrate. Join him to help his book catch fire on the book charts.
Don't forget our other co-host Stephen Tremp has a great book called Opening and it's now available.
Karen Gowen's Celery Tree online bookstore is also a place for you to check out for fine books from many of your favorite bloggers and it's something that you can be a part of as well if you have a book to market.
Go down the list of all of the co-hosts to visit their sites if you haven't done so already. There are books, artwork, and some darn good company to be found with all of them.
I'll leave you with the following message from our sponsor courtesy of Dale Smurthwaite:
Crikey, blimey, Lee - that's some big news!
ReplyDeleteI was part of A-Z last year and it served me well. Sadly won't be able to participate this year as working furiously on revising WIP (an agent waiting to see it so know you'll understand ;)
But I'll plug wherever I can and wish you all the best with it.
It was fab for me and I met some wonderful bloggers.
x
Good info!
ReplyDeleteOk... I just signed up. This is a super busy time for me, but I enjoyed the challenge very much last year, that I couldn't pass it this year :-)
Thank you, Lee.

You're a writing machine. And good thing because you have so many blogs to write for and let's mention the A-Z.

Plugged the thousand participants goal today and will do so next week during my tour. Will mention it again to my Yahoo group.
ReplyDeleteI'm just going to be a spectator this year. Too many things going on.
ReplyDeleteAwesome news Lee, I just hope the sheer volume of sign ups is going to be enough to manage! Love your comment on a comment feature too, it's seriously good stuff man.
ReplyDeleteBlue Mum-- Still plenty of time to change your mind.
ReplyDeleteDoris - You're a pro at this now so you shouldn't have any problem with it.
Jeremy -- 1000 by Monday would be outstanding.
Teresa -- You've been a big help in getting out the word.
Alex -- Your influence carries a lot of weight so thanks.
Shelly -- Ah come on, Shelly, you can fit it in. Think about it a bit more.
Matthew -- I still have a lot of those comments left. I haven't forgotten about them.

What a great way to advertise A-Z.
ReplyDeleteI love lots of the musicians pictured.

I love the idea of tell two bloggers, who will tell two more ...
ReplyDeleteIt's like a virus.
HI, Lee,
ReplyDeleteWow this is exciting... I need to sign up. I had SUCH a great time last year... I did swear it took up so much time, but I am more prepared this year and might start writing my posts ahead of time.
I nearly killed me last year writing them the day before.
Congrats on the amazing success of this challenge!
I am so looking forward to meeting new friends and writing some amazing posts. My last year's posts are something I am very proud of and hope to do something with them soon.
Have a great weekend!
That was a pleasant surprise...I clicked on this post and saw my face! Made me feel special, thanks for that.
ReplyDeleteI'm already getting excited for A-Z, I'll start announcing it on my blog, twitter, facebook, all those good places.

Sia -- And the video illustrates a great theme for the April Challenge.
ReplyDeleteMatthew -- That's the way it works! Pass it on! Soon all the world will know.
Michael -- Yes, do join up again. I wrote my posts the night before in the first year. It can be frantic fun, but it takes away visiting time. Doing at least a few posts ahead of time helps.
Sarah-- Your comment was the next in line and it seemed so appropriate to include in my post for today. Thanks for all the promo help that you'll be giving the Challenge.

ReplyDeleteKudos to Dale Smurthwaite for creating such a clever way of promoting the 'A To Z Blogfest'. (That sort of advertising would be right up DiscConnected's alleyz.)

Sort of like Doublespeak in 1984. Funny, we were just talking about that in work today! Hmmm, small world. ;)
ReplyDelete1000 by March will be great. I did a little promo post this week and will do another next week. It's really getting exciting.
ReplyDeleteI'm plugging it on my blog and every email I send out. Your goal of 1,000, before March, 1 seems very obtainable.
ReplyDeleteStMc -- I alerted Larry about Dale's video when it first came out. It reminded me of Larry's A to Z posts last year.
ReplyDeleteIBD -- Maybe like doublespeak in a way. And with the elections coming up it seems like there is more and more doublespeak to be heard, but don't get me started on that.
Susan GK -- Thanks for your efforts. That's exactly what it will take to reach our goals.
Jenn -- You're right! We can do it!

Blogging is media juggling That is very true. I also schedule some posts days before and as you say other things crop up to change the scheduling.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with getting 1000 participants Lee. Awesome!
I do believe it will reach 1000! I've not been blogging much as I have to get my wip out by March 1st but will get on to it after that date. I'm signed up and looking forward. Oh, by the way, I LOVE your new look! It is so gorgeous and groovy and other g words!
ReplyDeleteThis will be my first time on board the A-Z. I'm petrified! But . . . I'm definitely juggling the media with a bit of pre-blogging. It will be interesting to see how all of this goes!
ReplyDeleteGreat advice! Hadn't thought of bulletin boards. I also recommend posting in forums you may be a part of. I've rallied a few people that way.

Signed up and ready to go. I'm planning on implementing some of these to get the word out, myself. Going for the emailing, Friday blogging reminders, and badges on my Facebook and blog.

Hi Lee, I've blogged today about what the A-Z means to me and how meaningful it is for everyone to sign up. I emailed this post to all my friends to join. Let me know what you think.
