Kansas Catastrophe ( #AtoZChallenge )

Kansas was one of my favorite rock groups back in the seventies.  When I saw that they were coming to Evansville Indiana when I was living there for a short while in 1976, I was excited to get a ticket for the concert.  My employer at the time matched me up with her hairdresser who she thought would be a cute date for me.  I was a twenty-five year old guy that didn't really know anybody in town so happy to get connected with someone.  I invited her to the Kansas concert for a first date.

I don't think she was much of a rock fan.  We got to the concert into the first set which was Bachman Turner Overdrive.  At the end of that set my date complained that the loud music had given her a headache and she wanted to go home.  I never got to see Kansas in concert.  I also decided that going to a concert was not the greatest thing to do for a first date with someone you don't know.  I never saw her again after that and it probably didn't matter.

  1. Well at least you probably avoided small talk. One of my first dates involved going to see "Eraserhead" a David Lynch film oh and he had his best mate there too. Scroll forward 40 something years and we're still happily married.

  2. What a shame you had to leave early. You really can't get to know each other better at a concert, or movie for that matter. Staring straight ahead and not talking!

  3. What a shame! Had she never been to a concert before? BTO and Kansas certainly weren't loud or hard bands. I would've loved to have seen Kansas. Half those guys were Christians.

  4. Wow. That's a shame. Maybe she'd never been to a concert before? And it could have been a lot louder than BTO and Kansas.
