Breakfast was the first order of today--like most any morning--and then I loaded up my van with about 3 months accumulation of recyclables as I typically do quarterly during each year. For those who don't live in California I should explain we pay a fee for most plastic, aluminum, and glass drink containers that we can get back if we bring them to a recycle center. It's no big deal, but it all adds up. It's a minor inconvenience to keep all of the recyclables, but I have space in my garage so it's no big problem. And the recycle center is just a few blocks from my house. So I went down first thing after breakfast. I guess I help the environment or something and more importantly I walked away with $25. No big deal, but it's better than throwing it all away.
After that I was cleaning outside our house and other chores. Spring cleaning you know. And company's coming next week. So we're getting things ready for my daughter and her husband and three of our grandkids. It will likely be a short fast-paced week of fun. We only usually see them once a year since we live so far apart.
Bed time now calls me. Like yesterday I'm tired. I've at least managed another A to Z post. Now I'll see if I can keep up. It might be difficult. Hopefully I'll be back with another installment tomorrow. Or sometime.
Hi Lee, here in the UK our cans, plastic, bottles and paper/cardboard are collected from the kerbside once a fortnight (at least in our area).
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your family time and rest when you are able.
The A to Z Challenge is a highlight of my year. https://suestrifles.wordpress.com/2026/04/03/homophones-beginning-with-c-atozchallenge/
When we lived in North Jersey the first time we had to haul to a center, but here it's picked up at the curb. We pay for that but the convenience is nice. Enjoy tiime with your family!
ReplyDeleteI'm eating breakfast now as I wash the first load of clothes. The garbage has been picked up and the bin left in the street instead of back on the curb. The recycle bin is waiting to be picked up. No money back on recycables here in Atlanta.
ReplyDeleteI miss the days when we coukd get oaid for recycled bottles
ReplyDeleteWe have a can and recycling facility not far from home just near a bottle shop so usually take a box when we go to buy a bottle of wine. The money goes to my PayPal account. We could also put them in the recycling bin which goes out for garbage pickup. People sometimes look through the bins for bottles and cans to make a bit of extra cash. (NSW Australia)
ReplyDeleteHello Arlee,
ReplyDeleteBeen a while.
Glad there is a recycling plant, our planet could really do with this. We recycle too, but minus the moolah in return.
Glad to see you joining the AtoZ, as we thought you were taking a break this time.
I'm back after a long hiatus 2017-2018. I'll also see how the month pans out, eventually. :) Joined in last minus, so I don't have huge expectations from myself. :)
Our recycling gets picked up weekly with no charge but I think if there was a monetary incentive our recycling rates would improve.
