Pure Results ( #BOTB Results )

Today, as I write this, it's so hot outside that I've decided to stay inside except for the times I've been going outside to see how hot it is.  And it's still hot every time I go outside.  Guess I'll stay inside...

Battle of the Bands Results

Pure Morning

My most recent Battle was between two versions of the Placebo song "Pure Morning" which most of you probably knew as well as I did, which is not at all.  Or at least not that I can remember.  Wouldn't that seem appropriate?

I could appreciate the efforts of Mr. Djioules, but I'm not a big blues guy so The Airplane was more to my liking so that's how I voted.

Final Vote Tally

The Airplane    8 votes

Mr. Djioules     3 votes

Next Battle of the Bands on Sunday September 1

Hopefully I'll be getting more into a blogging schedule closer to what I was doing a couple years ago. But I've gotta say that being offline can be kind of nice.  What a fix I'm in!

Pure Morning (#BOTB)

It's like morning coming back to my blog. Oh, I poked my blogging head up a couple of times over the past few months to make my presence known.  Time to get up I suppose.  Here's a midmonth Battle of the Bands post to kick off my return to blogging routine.

Battle of the Bands

Battle of the Bands is the blogging event started by Far Away Series and now hosted by StMcC Presents Battle of the Bands.   This event happens each month on the 15th and on some there is also a Battle on the 1st of the month.  My blog is one of those with a second Battle excepting over these summer months.   The premise is simple:  Listen to the songs presented below and then in the comments vote for your favorite and tell us why you liked it.  Then visit the links listed near the bottom of this post for more Battle action.

Pure Morning

This 1998 song from the group Placebo somehow crossed my Battle of the Bands mind several years ago when I discovered the song and then realized there were a number of covers.  Why not?  Sounds like BOTB material to me.  And the song intrigued my ears.  Time to get it out of the queue and into the arena.  Tell us what you think...

The Airplane  "Pure Morning"  (2014)

Mr. Djioules "Pure Morning" (2015)

Time to Vote!

Wake up and smell the coffee!    Just take a listen to the songs then tell us which song version  you like best?
Hopefully you have an opinion of some kind.  You don't have to know about music to have an opinion since it all comes down to your own personal taste.

Please vote on your favorite by letting us know your choice in the comment section and tell us why you prefer the version you chose. Then after you've finished here, please visit the other blogs listed below who may or may not be participating this time around. And if you've put up your own BOTB contest let us know that as well so we can vote on yours. I don't know if anyone else will be doing a Battle this time around, but you can still check out these sites.

Here are some other places where you might find BOTB posts:

StMcC Presents Battle of the Bands

'Curious as a Cathy'

Sound of One Hand Typing

Jingle, Jangle, Jungle

Results on Wednesday August 21

Hope I don't forget.  If you vote then I'll likely not forget.  So vote if you will.

Call Me the Scarecrow ( #IWSG )

Just as I was about to sit down and compose this post, we got a longish rolling earthquake here in L.A.  Seems appropriate for the topic of the following...

The Insecure Writer's Support Group

Join us on the first Wednesday of each month in Alex J. Cavanaugh's Insecure Writer's Support Group--a forum of writers who gather to talk about writing and the writer's life. For a complete list of participants visit Alex's Blog
The co-hosts for the August 7 posting of the IWSG are Feather Stone, Kim Lajevardi, Diedre Knight, C. Lee McKenzie, and Sarah - The Faux Fountain Pen.

August 7 question - Do you use AI in your writing and if so how? Do you use it for your posts? Incorporate it into your stories? Use it for research? Audio?

For the past year and a half I've been using my wife's computer in order to blog or do anything else I wanted to do on a computer.  That was after my trusty old Lenovo wasn't able to connect to the internet anymore.  My wife didn't really like that arrangement but we dealt with it.  Then, last week I got a new laptop.  Now I'm trying to get accustomed to using it.  Part of this is due to some of the AI features that are built in.

At least that's what I think.  Now I'm not only going to have to get used to this new computer, but also I need get back into a blogging schedule that works for me.

As to the question of using AI, I guess to a degree I am using it now and probably will be more so in the future.  Seems like it just happens or something but that's okay if it's just routine stuff like editing as I go or whatever it is.

I guess I'm just going to have to ponder AI as I come to it.  But I'm not going to dwell on it.  Not unless I have to for some reason.

Lingering or Malingering? ( #BOTB--Not!)

I'm full of excuses it seems.  Having a great summer, but blogging calls.  At least I kind of hear it calling.  I just got home after purchasing a new computer, but it might be awhile before I get up and running so I figured I'd put up a place holder sort of post to let you all know that I'm still here.

Looks like I'm going to skip this month's Battle of the Bands--or at least the one scheduled for the first.  I'll put one up for the 15th.  And I'll make it for next week's #IWSG post on Wednesday.

And I should be up and running just fine in order to make my rounds of any other #BOTB posts you all might put up.

For now I've got to get my new computer operational and reorganize my office to get back in the groove of things.

Like I said, it's been a great summer.  I almost hate to ruin it by getting back to computer normalcy--or whatever I had before my old computer stopped working over a year ago.  In some ways I miss those old days of  no computers, but now they have become a necessity.

Now it's time for me to stop lingering or malingering or whatever it is I've been doing.

        But at least I'm here...
