Weekly Song Challenge Week 43

Are you ready for Halloween?  I'm not sure that I'll participate this year, but I haven't been doing Halloween at my house for several years now.   It will probably be another sour puss darkened house blocked doorway Halloween for me.   But in the community I'm not sure what folks will be doing about trick-or-treat.  Lots of decorations to be seen.  But on a Sunday night?   I'm sure someone will be looking for candy.

And now for the last "Weekly Song Challenge" of 2021...

This ongoing Challenge comes from Mary at Jingle Jangle Jungle.   She provides the categories of the week.  Here's what we've got for this week:

October 27 - Week 43

A Song with a Boy’s Name in the Title

A Song with an Animal in the Title

A Song that mentions your Favorite Color

The Buoys "Timothy" (1971)

Here's a tune you might not have heard in a long time if ever. It's about cannibalism--or is it?

Murray McLauchlan "Horses On The Highway"   (1983)

From Canada, McLauchlan is a favorite artist I discovered in the eighties--while I was working in Canada.

Bruce Cockburn   "Incandescent Blue"    (1979)

Also from Canada and an artist I also found out about when I was working in Canada during the eighties, Bruce Cockburn is one of my top favorite singer/songwriters.  I like the color green a lot, but traditionally blue has been my favorite color since I was a kid.

Do you know any of the songs I chose?   Which songs would you pick?

  1. Not familiar with those.
For name, several of Ayreon's songs on their latest album have Daniel in the title. For animal, Armored Saint's Lone Wolf. And for color, there are so many...Black N. 1 by Type O Negative, Black Hole Sun by Soundgarden, Fade to Black by Metallica...

  2. The first tune was played to death on the radio so I'm familiar with it. As a Canadian, it shames me to say I didn't recognize the other two songs. Back to Timothy, I did some Google research. Did you know it was written by Rupert Holmes? 😲 Interesting write-up on Songfacts.

    1. Rupert Holmes as in "Escape (The Piña Colada Song)"?

  3. Hello to another Californian. I'm in the central valley.

I like both tunes, but the second one is my pick.

    Thanks for dropping by.

    Have a fabulous day. ☺

  4. These were all new ones on me. Bruce Cockburn was the only familiar name...

  5. Lee,

I do not know the song "Timothy". Perhaps, the reason no one went to look for Timothy is because he wasn't a real person. I think he might have been a guardian sent from above to watch over the two men trapped in the cave. I never heard the last two, either. The first one I understand why it might have escaped my memory coming out in the early 70s but the others should've made it to my ear and didn't. Thanks for stopping by my place today to join my Wild Wednesday linky party. Have a good afternoon, my friend!

  7. Lee,

I listened to your selections but forgot to leave a comment. *roll eyes* All of these are new to me songs. Thanks for the music education and listening pleasure.
