I never really did get on board with the X-files myself, although I think they were rather popular when I was growing up :) I've always been more of a Witches and Crime stories gal :D

the second film, didn't fit into anything and it was poorly advertised as a film it was more like an episode... a very violent one.

I was a huge fan back in the day, but yeah the last arc of episodes were pretty terrible. My household did a rewatch on Netflix a year ago and zipped through until about season 8. The last movie I saw in the theatre out of loyalty, but I couldn't get through it a second time on DVD.

Seems like a lot of good shows lose steam in the end. I hate it when the shows just go off the air without any story resolution.

I am so stoked for this reboot of the X Files. I hear they are shooting in Vancouver too. I admit though, I did stop watching during Season 5 and after the first movie came out when they didn't actually resolve any of the questions we had. Plus I wasn't happy with their move from Vancouver to Los Angeles. It changed the whole look and feel of the show.

I still remember how one of my guy friends tricked to trick one of our enemies, some smug know-it-all, into missing The X-Files (then a brand-new show) by telling him it was on NBC and at some other time. The other guy wrote down this information, then was like, "Wait a minute." He must've known some other show was really on that time and channel.

I remember the X-Files, as in, I am aware that it was a tv show, but I never got into it. I saw bits and pieces of a couple episodes, but it never really held my interest. I wasn't aware of the movies.
ReplyDeleteAs for starting a fan blog, that's a great idea! To narrow it down to just one subject that holds your interest long enough to blog about it repeatedly is the problem I guess.
If you're really into something enough I guess you can repeatedly blog about it. I've seen some of these fan sites, but I've yet to find one that has captured my interest.

I watched the X-Files only so often. Was not a big fan, but did watch a good number of episodes. I watch a few from time to time on Amazon Prime. The worst episode I ever watched was one dealing with roaches. Then during the course of the show a random bug ran across the screen. It freaked me out but I laugh about it now. It was an ingenious thing to do.
ReplyDeleteAs for fan blogs, I've done that a few times. I was running a fitness blog for awhile and every season the Biggest Loser was on I'd do two weekly features. One was a recap of the show and another was tweets of the week where I'd print comments about the show as seen on twitter, then offer my own comment.
I also ran a Doctor Who blog where I recapped all the classic episodes. Both blogs still exist, they just lay dormant. Stopped blogging to them when I started the one I am currently running.
Blogging about something that's current makes the most sense regarding fan blogs. Older stuff relegates a blog to a more specific niche audience that probably has little growth potential.

I did get many readers. The Dr.Who one had many readers and another site even forwarded most of my posts.
DeleteEssentially the fitness one I lost interest in the Biggest Loser TV show and felt I said all I could about fitness. The Dr.Who one I felt I accomplished all I wanted to do. I would have gone on to write current episode reviews but it's been done many times over.
Love the X-Files! In a way the Internet and the X-Files grew up together. Back in the day when everyone was getting online X-Files was at it's peak. IT was a great time.

I loved the X files even though it got more confusing about the aliens and her baby plus all their family dying around them-ick. I did enjoy it even the one that is censored(the freak who was the product of incest between the mother and her other sons). If Russell Crowe or Hugh Jackman had their own blog-I would follow it

What I have seen of the X files I like, but having only one TV and a husband who doesn't like such programmes, I rarely get to watch them. The TV is his, I have two computers and a tablet as well as a Kindle to keep me company.

never into the X-Files. A friend of mine loved the show, spent a fortune to see the movie, and said it was horrible. Oh well. Heard they are bringing the show back. I did like Gillian in the short series "The Fall".

ReplyDeleteI remember beginning to write everything down about the show every time I learned something new. I had a full notebook. But, even though the internet was fairly new, someone had already beaten me to putting up a site.
The show was originally on Friday night, which was great. They lost viewers when it moved to Sunday.

I don't follow specific X-files blogs but I was excited when I heard the series is resurrecting. I wasn't a huge fan, like a Must-See fan, but I did watch a lot of it over the years and I always enjoyed it. It will be interesting to see if they can revive the chemistry between the two leads that was so successful with the original series.
ReplyDeleteI do visit some TV show blogs. I'm a huge Real Housewives fan (shhh, it's my guilty pleasure :) ) and have often visited the various blogs on the BravoTV site. It's definitely an added bonus for viewers...and certainly another revenue stream for the networks.

Vancouver seems to stand in for a lot of TV show cities. I heard recently there's going to be a new show better than The X-Files. It's going to be The A to Z Files. It may terrify some and delight others. Some of the human characters may be disguised as dogs.
