Travel (Elements of Blogging) #AtoZChallenge
Travel is another one of those blog themes with endless possibilities. Most people enjoy reading about travel and many of us like the helpful travel trips that the more seasoned and in-the-know travelers can offer us. A travel blog is an especially good site on which to share photos of faraway places or even more local sites that are interesting to visit.
Here on Tossing It Out I have sometimes posted about my own travel adventures and I seen stories about travel on many other blogs as well. The nature of travel blog posts is limitless with topics ranging from sights to see, places to eat, and travel bargains to be found. A travel blog is one that opens itself well to monetizing since there are so many businesses that would be willing to advertise on an informative site with high traffic. And even without pro-blogger status, a travel blog can be a fun way to share ones love of traveling with others who have a like interest.
How about a blog dedicated to promotional trailers such as book, TV show, and movie trailers? Other "T" topics one might consider are transportation, toys, teenagers, and Trekkies. There are tons of "T" themes one can pursue when starting a blog.
Do you ever share travel stories on your own blog? Are there any pro travel blogs that you regularly visit? What "T" themes can you think of that I haven't mentioned here?
Some blogs about travel or that are posting about travel for A to Z:
The Travel Type
born to be a Tourist
Yes, Virginia, There Is Life After Retirement
Patrick Tillet (Have you seen his great travel photos?)
Tui Snider's Offbeat and Overlooked Travel
.

I normally try to respond to all comments in the comment section so please remember to check the "Email follow-up comments" box if you want to participate in the comment conversation.
For Battle of the Bands voting the "Anonymous" commenting option has been made available though this version is the least preferred. If voting using "anonymous" please include in your comment your name (first only is okay) and city you are voting from and the reason you chose the artist you did.
If you know me and want to comment but don't want to do it here, then you can send me an email @ jacksonlee51 at aol dot com.

I'm not such a fan of straight travel blogs - too many years of watching some family or another's slide shows on the Grand Canyon perhaps? I do however love a blog about someone who has up and moved somewhere exotic to them like Karen Jones Gowen did and writes about in Coming Down the Mountain!
ReplyDeleteI'm such a huge fan of travel that I enjoy those slide shows and such, but then again I guess I haven't been subjected to that many of them. It's interesting to read about the others have had with relocation though I don't know that I would ever do such a thing unless I absolutely had to.

Pat takes the most amazing photos.
ReplyDeleteRhonda Albom has a photography and travel blog. The year her family, including her two daughters, traveled the world, was amazing.
There are so many blogs where the authors have documented various travels. A reader could almost never leave their computer and still see the world through blogs.

I always share my day trips on my blog. I wish that I had traveled more when I was younger but there was never the money to do it. And my ex husband could be such a stick in the mud, although we did do quite a bit around Northern California in those days.
ReplyDeleteDay trips are some of my favorites. I enjoy your photo essays about your own day trips.

Travel is certainly a show stopper. It covers the whole gamut of living it up. Hank's buddy Yusuf takes a different approach with a Photo Safari kind of travel. For that he goes off-road unlike other tourists. Apologies, Arlee for being late in returning comments

Having access to travel blogs is a great opportunity for those who may never see the places covered on those sites.

I love to travel so travel blogs always catch my interest. Doesn't matter if I've been there already or not. This month, I've also been following a trekkie blog as well. Those or any other sci.fi. related are also good in my book.
ReplyDeleteActually I almost prefer reading the blog posts about places where I've been since I can relate better to those travel stories.

I'm going to stay away from teenagers until I am in the thick of it with my own. Otherwise those are some great topic suggestions.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure there are parents who might welcome reading blogs to help with living with teens, but my day with that is over and I'm not the authority to write about that topic.

I had multi-part photo essays on my three trips to Israel on my old Angelfire site. I was unable to recover some of the pages after my site was deleted without warning or real explanation, though I had original copies of all the photos on my own computer and Photobucket account. Someday I really want to do a lot more travelling and see a lot more countries.
ReplyDeleteTravel while you're still young! It's good that you still have the photos, but what a shame that the original pages are gone.

I love a well-written travel blog, especially if it makes me want to go there, too!
ReplyDeleteReading about travel and looking at the photos is one of my favorite escapes.

I don't travel any where near what I used to, but I'll check out these blogs. Sometimes it is exactly what I need to get my butt up and get it out the door!

Just traveling in a 100 mile or so radius of where one lives can provide some great adventures for us. You have so much to see in your area.

I don't travel much, so don't share many travel stories. I'll have to go take a peak at the blogs you mentioned.
ReplyDeleteI don't travel too much anymore either, but we do usually take one or two epic trips each year.

Sometimes I'll share interesting tidbits about my travels but not much. I enjoy reading blogs about other countries, especially when they share pictures.
ReplyDeleteI usually forget to take many pictures when I travel so it doesn't give me many illustrations and for that reason I don't go into my trips very much in depth for the most part.

My friend Tui, who is doing the challenge too does travel on her blog and her first travel book was inspired by this challenge. I post the occasional photo journal when hubby and I travel somewhere fun.

Oh gosh I meant to include Tui Snider's blog here She does a lot of good travel stuff. I read both Haunted Texas and Unexpected Texas in which I was surprised to discover a very nice tribute to me and the A to Z community.

Susan Oloier is doing a very nice A-Z on her family's travels.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to check her series out.

I do believe I am a direct descendent of Marco Polo. I love travel blogs and those with pictures of the area in which they live.
ReplyDeleteWith caregiving, my retirement will be delayed and hopefully for quite a long time. Then I'll hop a slow boat to China.
I love travel blogs and have picked a few from A to Z to visit regularly.
Oh I love travel blogs because I can learn so much plus I can see some beautiful pictures. I follow Annabel's Travel Blog which she is actually showcasing her native Scotland and Denise Hammond at Yes, Virginia, there is Life after retirement in which she is showing her travels to Russia and Estonia. As for another T-Television! From the original shows done live to documentaries to history as you watch it like when Jack Ruby killed Lee Harvey Oswald. Who cares about schlock TV crap and look at what is actually quite good
ReplyDeleteI enjoy travel blogs becuse they help me decide where I want to go next, but I prefer the travel blogs that reflect the writers personality . I like spunky bloggers who make me laugh and I don't really care for travel blogs devoid of personality . Some of them are like reading a brochure from a travel agency but others are amazing .

I have a blog dedicated for my travel tales. Love sharing my pictures :)
ReplyDeleteTravel is one of my biggest passions! I've written many travel articles and plan on more for the future. :) For last year's A-Z, my theme was "Travel & Culture. There are some great travel blogs out there! Boomeresque, by Suzanne Fluhr is excellent; also Suitcase Stories, Nomadic Texan, Tales from the Back Road and a new one called Write2Camp in Europe...Too many to list!
ReplyDeleteYes I do enjoy reading travel blogs. I post about my travels too but because I don't travel as often now I refrain from it. Thanks for those travel blog suggestions. Will check them out :)
