#IWSG-- Barely Back Writer
I'm not totally back yet, but I had to make an appearance for another monthly Insecure Writer's Support Group post hosted by Alex J Cavanaugh. Be sure to check out the list at Alex's site for more participants in this month's edition.
I'll be officially returning to my blog next Monday August 12th--I hope. The fact of the matter is that I'm exhausted. Even though I'm back home now, I feel like I've left my mind and my energy somewhere on the roads of the U.S.
It's been a crazy near month away from my blogging activity and I'm having a hard time getting back into the swing of things. What seems like many weeks ago--and I guess it was that--I was all filled with writing motivation and starting on a new project. Now I feel like Sleeping Beauty hit with an ugly stick and I'd rather sleep than do just about anything else. Well, except for maybe watching a movie on the tube now and then and even at that I don't feel all that inspired.
Will I get my mojo back? All these things I have to say--can I get the motivation to say them? I don't think I can call it "insecurity". It's just exhaustion maybe. Then again...
How's your summer been going? Has everything been going according to plan?

ReplyDeleteIt will come back. You wrote this post. On Monday, you'll write another one. Soon you'll be rolling again.
I know how you feel! My husband and I drove across the U.S. in April and I had a hard time getting back into the swing of things. You'll be back to blogging mode in no time.
ReplyDeleteYou were away a long time. It will come back though.
ReplyDeleteYou'll get it. It takes a while--I took 3 weeks earlier this summer and I've felt like I was spinning my wheels for a while, but FINALLY feel like I'm getting back to it.
ReplyDeleteHi Lee .. just being away from one's 'routine of life' for a short period is bad enough ...
ReplyDeleteGood luck with that settling down - I'm sure your Mojo is there and just waiting for you somewhere nearby ...
Cheers Hilary
Welcome back Lee. Missed you. I am sure you will get your mojo back.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back! Did the road seem to stretch on forever as you neared the end of your trip? It did for us.
ReplyDeleteRest up, Lee!

ReplyDeleteOh, wait. That sounds like something Yoda said.
Anyway, Keep On Truckin'. It can only get better.
Was there a plan? I must have missed that day...
ReplyDeleteOh, yes, it's hard to get back into the zone. But you'll do it. You wrote this post!

ReplyDeleteI have been having a great August. Despite a cold I have been winning books and gift cards like crazy. Yay Me! Just slowly ease back into your routine and don't let laziness or over exuberance get in the way.
ReplyDeletewelcome back, it will be great to hear from you again!
ReplyDeleteBarelyback Mountain -sounds like a good movie
ReplyDeleteYou'll get there, Lee. IT takes time after a long hiatus.
ReplyDeleteOne step at a time is the way to go. Don't stress about it!
I believe you will indeed get your mojo back! Just take your time & don't push too hard, I'd say.
ReplyDeleteYou will get it back! YOUR brain is still in vacation mode! We will be here waiting for you~ Take your time get yourself well rested and refreshed and make your come back ;D
ReplyDeleteTake Care! I would love to hear about your travels when time permits. Maybe this would get you back to blogging-share with us all your adventures!
Nothing in my summer (or winter or spring) went according to any plan except that formulated by the universe. I thought I would never recover, Lee, but I'm finally almost back to normal. Daily one-hour naps have helped. Also playing hermit for a bit. Give it time and I'll bet you'll be fine too.
ReplyDeleteHey Lee! I had that same problem. Just didn't feel like blogging, and I didn't even go on any trip or anything. Not a road trip anyway. Sometimes it just feels like a chore to blog, especially in the summer when it's too damn hot to do much except sit and sweat. That's how it is for me anyways.
ReplyDeleteHope you get back to yourself soon...maybe after a nap or two eh?
Thanks for all the encouragement. Naps? I've been taking more than my share. A bit of a summer cold or something has also taken a toll on my motivation.
ReplyDeleteI'll be back!
Lee
Ah Lee, your pumps just rusty with disuse. It'll come flowing strong in a few days. Don't worry! While you were on the road your writer mind was being inspired and collecting all sorts of things - like a big ole well - that will come down to your fingertips any day now!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back. I'm back too except mine was a mental hiatus. I needed to rejuvenate and refocus. So, now that I'm back on track, yes I believe things will go according to plan.
ReplyDeleteI've had trouble keeping up with blogs since Google Reader went away, but I think I've found the right replacement. Glad to see I haven't missed TOO much.
ReplyDeleteI recently quit my day job to freelance full time, which leaves me with a little more time (right now, anyway) to blog and read.
I find things almost never go according to plan for me, but that's okay. Keeps life interesting.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you should extend your break for a bit and rest up until your writing mood bites again?
Just concentrate on getting better Lee. The writing will come when you start feeling like yourself again.
